2. Administrators Jabo Posted October 30, 2012 2. Administrators Share Posted October 30, 2012 Hi all, Well, turned the rig on this morning and lo and behold, monitor #2, my venerable 19" HP has finally given up the ghost. Tried the usual (checked it was plugged in and then changed power cable etc) but no good. It is deceased, it is no more, it is an ex-monitor. This gives me a problem. I now have a space on my desk where it used to live. Then I had a brainwave! Move the other monitor over and the space is gone! Success! Ah. Different problem, There's a gap now on the other side of the desk. Bugger. The upshot is that where I used to have two monitors I now only have one. This makes Jabo sad. This is nothing like Dr Banner getting cross you understand, but it's pretty bad. So I have a new plan! Get a new 'main' monitor and the 20" can then become monitor #2! Here's what I'm considering; http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/samsung-ls24b350hs-en-full-hd-24-led-monitor-12592986-pdt.html Basically this pushes the budget til it squeaks, but it's v. nice. Thoughts? Flyboy583
Hey Nick, Nothing wrong with your choice of monitor, but have you considered this? http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/aoc-e2450swda-full-hd-23-6-led-monitor-14866074-pdt.html I have an AOC monitor and cant fault it at all... plus side it is cheaper I am looking at adding to my 19" LED AOC monitor and am currently considering this one... Now there is also this if you want to go over the top http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/aoc-e2795vvh-full-hd-27-led-monitor-12655894-pdt.html And lastly dont forget good `ol Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SAMSUNG-LS24B350HS-EN-Full-HD-24-LED-Monitor-/290794666532?pt=UK_Computing_ComputerComponents_Monitors&hash=item43b4b67a24 http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=aoc+monitor&rt=nc&LH_ItemCondition=3 Just my 2c worth PS.. 1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted October 30, 2012 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted October 30, 2012 Samsung is nice and good, but those go kaputt ... sometimes in the end, sometimes sooner... And, yes there could be quality/image differences, but mostly they are only visible if you have the types sitting side by side, showing the same image ) I'm with Flyboy, if budget is tight, if a cheaper alternative is good enough.... 2. Administrators fruitbat Posted October 30, 2012 2. Administrators Share Posted October 30, 2012 I wouldn't get any of them, cause there all 1920 by 1080. I've had a Samsung monitor for over 3 years, this one, samsung syncmaster 2443bw and thats 1920 by 1200. I've just had a look, and found one for £190 online, http://www.google.co...ved=0CDMQ8wIwAQ I'm also in the market for a new monitor, as after 3.5 years i have a dead pixel line, part of me is tempted to get the same again, but i really want a 27inc now, plus a higher max res. I certainly won't consider a lower max res, thats for sure. However, if you are happy with 1080p, you might as well look at TV's, bigger for same money.
