Happy Birthday Jim, never forgotten.

The only instrunent that works FT is the speed indicator on wing strut. Yes must get some pilots next, i will get a 3D one printed of Bongo.

Just a few pics of the finished Moth after maiden flight all except a few decals on front end. starting to look weathered and used already. One some what scruffy but delighted owner lol !! Videos soon, whats next on the building board ? i think i will build a 100% scale gaming computer.

Well i managed to get down to the flying field today for the Moths maiden, i can tell you i was a bit nervous after spending so much time on it. Fired the motor up checked all the controls for the final time, pointed her into the slight breeze and eased on the power and away she went no wierd scary reactions just a lovely smooth climb out, and once into circuit there was no trimming required. Had about 10mins just getting the feel of the controls, so now the scary bit getting it back on the grass in one piece, well it floated in an absolute treat no problem at all. Got another flight in later in the day and tried a few loops and rolls, i can't believe how nice it is to fly, well worth all the hours put into it. Now i can get the rest of the detail on and get some more flying done Will get some pics and video's soon.

That was one of the reasons i chose that one, it saved a lot of extra work on the wings and it has the cleaner look.

Just got Moth assembled outside to do an engine run at long last. 20151006_143052.mp4 not as much vibration as i thought there would be, small problem with exhaust, next just run it with cowl on and make sure it does not get too hot, then fly the bugger. The video sound does not do it justice, sounds a lot better for real.

Have a look at this link, this is the one I have modelled it on>> http://www.tigermoth.pl/english.html

Well i managed to get all the bits in ok, and the noisy bit on and ready to go ! The scale exhaust fits nice and snug after a lot of modification, only hope there is enough air flow over cylinder now for cooling, looks ok. Will soon see. Now to see if it starts and runs ok !!!

Thanks Mick, i just hope it flys as well as it looks lol. Yes having the wings like that should save an awefull lot of time setting up, can't imagine messing about with all those rigging wires, and with the colder weather now it will be easier on the fingers as well.

Well i have managed to get a few more hours on the moth, its time to try and squeeze all the bits inside that make it work, ie electronic ignition unit, servos, batterys, fuel tank and all the wiring. Not much room in there as i don't want too much on show from inside cockpit area. A few more bits of detail added. Next bolt on the noisy bit,fit more bits of detail check the CofG and run it up and make sure nothing shake's loose and every thing works, going to bolt engine on to firewall without rubbers as they were too soft, then go and fly it, when we get a calm day.

Well done FT, absolutely brilliant, love the caddy.
-
Wow Four years, salute Jim
-
Hooray yes they do come off as a pair thats Grrrrrrrrreat !!!! lol Had to make a support brace for storage & transport, so just push them on to locating pins and tighten securing bolts Removed motor from MXS now that its all run in and set up, no messing about when its in Tiger hopefully. Just checking out a rubber anti vibration system, next step bolt it in permanantly
-
At long last on the wing alighnment jig Hopefully the wings will come off as a pair, this will save messing about with rigging wires every time its assembled.
-
Will have to look that one up, thats probably bigger than pitts at 80%.
-
Happy Birthday Nick! hope you have a great day.
-
Funny you should say that, i saw a full size model of a pitts the other day, not sure where it was. Have a bit of trouble getting that in the old man cave lol,
