  1. This thing https://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ You can minimise it and leave it running.
  2. I'm pretty sure for BoS turning off hyper-threading makes a difference whether you are on a monitor or in VR.
  3. I don't think higher cpu clocks make that much difference after a certain level if you are driving a monitor. It might perhaps help in career missions where you can encounter lots of a.i. driven planes. I recall on my old system getting over 3.6GhZ was what made a difference. Big, high-res. screen performance is obviously a gpu thing but for VR a high clock speed makes all the difference. Going from 4 upto 4.6 gives me an appreciable difference. As did turning off hyper-threading. However, there is a lot that can be done in game too that really helps it along.
  4. Oh yeah, make sure Hyperthreading is disabled in bios whether you overclock or not. IL2 depends on the best single thread per core performance it can get and this makes an appreciable difference.
  5. I use a couple of little apps to monitor and test things that you probably know about Crash; https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html This is handy for stress testing your cpu to find out what it's doing. https://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ I watch the effect on temps and cpu speeds with this. The CPU won't run at it's maximum all the time but will ramp up the speed as required. If you do the cpu stress test in cpu-z with core temps running you should be able to see this. I'm still using my trusty Occulus CV1 too so I'll have a delve into what settings I'm running that on in IL2 later on and post 'em here.
  6. Thats a pretty good, right up there sort of system Crash. What kind of performance do you get in IL2 and what sort of a cooler have you got?
  7. Thats two of us. A few more? The Yak52 is available NOW for a princely $19.99 or sixteen squid, takes about ten minutes to set up the controls and is an authentic delight to fly https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/yak52/
  8. Wow! Well done Fen! Been watching your thread over at the GBS forum.
  9. You know, we could do this for Dogzford....we could....kinda....
  10. Once installed, any Jeeeerman aircraft capable of carrying the SC1000 can carry a torp!
  11. It certainly helps in VR but it's a big download.
  12. Quite enjoying DCS's free for a month deal. The F16 is sublime and everything you'd expect it to be. Except fast. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Throttle seems to go to it's full travel and 'burner lights up but..... Meanwhile, at the other end of the speed-spectrum, this thing is just delightful.

  14. For GBS you won't need any of that. As long as people can spawn in they'll be to watch everything. Here's what to do; fire up your game, select quick mission, takeoff from runway. When you spawn on the tarmac go to external view and press the magic F11 key. This will give you free-roaming camera controlled by your mouse.
  15. In the Uk? It's that dog again!
  16. Nice one Sid. I've been watching this one develop over the last few days.....
  17. Quick top ten of preferred destinations; 1 East Midlands Airport 2 Heathrow 3 Leipzig 4 Bolivia. . . . . . . 12 Antarctica
  18. Er.....don’t you two know that you can try nearly anything you want from DCS right now, for FREE for one month? Offer started yesterday and there’s a fifty per cent off sale on too👍 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4290405#post4290405
  19. Hmmm......I think the limited field of view thing is a bit of a red herring. I'm sat at my pc now with the monitor on a desk. To my right are some pens. If I pick one up the natural thing seems to be to move my head and guide my hand to it. I don't grope around for it whilst staring straight ahead. If I was sat in the cockpit of a modern military jet i think I'd be wanting to guide my banana fingers right onto the correct switch or button. Again, I don't think I'd be relying on peripheral vision to accomplish 'difficult' tasks. Chimps like us are hunters not flight animals and we've evolved two close-set optical receptors on a pivoting, swivelling mount. We're meant to use them that way. For us, peripheral vision is mostly useful for seeing things in the dark. Nice idea with the plywood btw.
  20. I think thats good news Crash. Although Dallas is obviously a bit further away from you than NY I seem to remember it's one of the BIG airfreight distribution hub's for the US. In europe Liepzig is the biggy for inbound airfreight. Your fingering device should be perfect for giving the F16 a poke
