Perf is going to miss this mission In theory you could clear cache and cold boot ahead of time. Join server, select plane. Flight leader says air-ground or air-air loadout in chat. (100 gas 6x500 lb extra ammo) Touch nothing while loading - wait. Spawn in. Leader types start engine in chat. He can idle at the start point for a long time by just pulling ahead a bit and ultimately either take off and catch up or finish mission and at least get an abort under his belt.

I don't generally shoot in a high deflection situation unless he's very close. If the gyro pipper is not visible in the gunsight I generally don't shoot at all - pulling too much G and your rounds won't be concentrated. This is the theory: Fix the range problem first with lead pursuit and after that fix the aspect (angle off his tail) with lag pursuit. Get the gunsight steady on an important part of his airplane (engine/cockpit) with near zero deflection. SHOOT! In practice what usually happens is: while I'm maneuvering into position for where the bad guy is gonna be someone else gets in right behind the bad guy and tries to stay with him in a tight turn spraying all his ammo 100 yards short, then claims I'm cutting in on his kill but I digress....

We've done "tank nights" a few times - some observations. Spawn points need to be close to each other -10 min driving is little fun when you get killed right away. Spawn points need to be out of direct sight of the enemy- protected either by buildings or over a ridge I suspect you will want to limit aircraft participation ... at least till you can spawn in your own mobile AAA gun

FT is simply trying to avoid his turn at having to lead the 402nd. He may just have a case of the jitters and be in need of a vacation. I'll volunteer to lead 402nd and take that off your plate. Failing that we may schedule a chat with the Wing Commander regarding a LMF issue.

He seems to have gotten teamspeak sorted out yesterday so we'll be able to get some stick time in tonight

ha! Can't enable or disable mods with the confg on read only. Have to change the file permissions to swap.

Heh, I made a copy of the original startup.cfg and put it beside the IL2 icon on desktop.... till Windows rearranges everything for me anyway.

Strange... I joined the server... crashed a Spit. Back on the main screen I would normally hit the flag and leave current aircraft but anything I do on the main screen gives me the Windows "already busy with something else" sound. I have to leave server via task manager. Rejoin the server and same thing. Can't use any tab on the main screen, same sound. I have to leave server via task manager. I join another server, all works as it should. Back to the Dogs server and still the same situation. I have to leave server via task manager. Confused

Saiteks are about the best in the under $200 range but Crosswinds are about 5 times as good for twice the price of the Saiteks

Heh, not exactly.... the "E" key will still stop the engines once running. You'll want to have more altitude than I did if you try this.
