  1. Fingers crossed!
  2. You'll probably need to anyway given that you've had a cpu and mobo change. I'd install 7 first, set it up the way you want it and then upgrade to 10. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. Seriously, there is no need to worry. If you are upgrading from 7/8 to 10 the upgrade process works flawlessly. In my case apart from the joystick problems, which were caused by me, everything else was exactly where I left it and all the software was also working as before. A backup is a sensible precaution regardless but you won't need it. The worst that might happen is that you need to remap your controllers axes/buttons but that's a five minute job to sort anyway. 8. Probably sensible mate - although the upgrade should present no problems at all.
  9. Although I hadn't considered that, I suppose that's a possibility too, Rog! Lol How much do you pay annually for your technet access?
  10. So I have changed my HDD configuration (swapped my RAIDed SSDs for a single larger SSD) and reinstalled Windows 10 Pro using the USB key method - Previous installation was Win 10 Pro upgraded from Win 7 Ultimate. Completely vanilla install with no codes entered at any point. So it would appear that the activation does not always have a problem - perhaps it's dependant on how much of the hardware is changed or maybe the HDD config is not part of the checks.
  11. Funny, I was just wondering the same thing. So I googled him. Apparently he was (in)famous for staying in 5 star hotels and eating in expensive restaurants and then leaving without paying
  12. Does this help?
  13. I'm a bit surprised that ed went down this route. Torrents rely on people who have fully downloaded seeding the files so others can download it, but the updater disconnects once it has the files so you're not getting long-term seeds. Http option much better. My ancient DSL was giving me a steady 0.6 MB/s - hardly earth-shattering until you see that via torrent I was getting anywhere from 0.1 to 0.3 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. If you stop the update, it'll give you the option to use the old method. If it's any consolation after 3 hours I'd only got 52% of the file so you were doing a lot better than me. Unfortunately I didn't find out about the old upload method until it was too late to anything about it last night. I'll have to do it tonight after work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. So where is the game installed Col? Remember it doesn't work properly if it's in Program Files or Program Files (x86) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. That's what I was thinking Rog, my Win7 is a retail box version so I'm hoping I'll be able to use it on anything.
  18. Snacko, was your original win 7 a pre-installed or retail box version? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Funny that, I was about to post an Argosy a while back - quite similar in some ways.
  20. I'm changing the boot drives so planning to reinstall the OS as an experiment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I'm going to be making a change to the hardware setup in my rig at the end of this month - That would really be the acid test. When it doesn't work I'll be sure to let you know FT!
  22. I've done it twice already FT Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. It wasn't going to be all dogfighting if I understand Fen's first post - yeah, some of that by all means but away from the field and only between people who have agreed to be combatants - I have enough trouble getting up and down safely in DCS without wanting to make it any more difficult by adding bullets into the mix. So people who want to learn to fly the these beasties and those that want a scrap can do so all at the same time - I suspect with the numbers using DCS you're going to struggle to get more than a 2v2 in the early days at any rate,
  24. Not heard those, but there must be a way to resolve it - a new license just cos you've upgraded the PC? If that was the case I'd reinstall 7 - do the upgrade and then away you go.
