  1. I thought the box was a bit dusty when I picked it up in the model shop. The next pics are after I built it and gave it a base coat of silver. It went together really well I found - As you can tell from this next picture, you spot the first... discrepancy. The engine cowling bulges are joined together in one big blob, instead of being two distinct circles on either side. It makes the model look like it's wearing one of those nose strips you often see sportsmen wear. I read an article on the internet about creating really good paint chip effects. The guy undercoated the model in silver, then got some really salty water and painted drops on the leading edges etc. Then after you've painted the base colours, you just rub off the dried salt to reveal the metal colour underneath. I was going to do that, but found I had over done it when I looked at the end. So I just washed off the salt and now I plan to paint the silver chipping on at the end. Hopefully by the weekend I'll have the base blue colour done.
  2. Well since Rattler & Delta7 kicked off this little mini modelling boom, I thought I'd thought I'd join in. I have 4 model kits sat on my shelf, some for ages. So now I'm going to start one. First off, a cheap and cheerfull little 1/72 scale Airfix Bf-109 G6 - A modelling skill of level 1 required it says in the bottom right hand corner. So I JUST qualify. A have a soft spot for Airfix, since their customer service sent me a replacement part from another kit, all the way here to Austria, for FREE. Just before the company went under.
  3. BBloke, your hyperlink to his site needs tweaking.
  4. Thanks Dave, that's a bonus. @ Rattler - Very nice, so you'll have it done by Friday then huh?
  5. Wow! So it's stopped snowing over there then? That's the last weather report I got from you guys over there.
  6. +1 I enjoyed it a lot. I was first up and joined UKDed2 with Painless when there was only 10 people on that server. Then the rest of the regular DDz started to trickle on to it, one by one. But by the time Frior & Klinger arrived on TS, the UKDed2 server was full up. So that was when we all left and joined the empty UKDed3 server. I liked the full switch UKDed 3 server. As it forces you all to work together to stay alive. Thankfully we had Delta7 cracking the whip and 'informing' us all we needed to get into a formation. The only slight grumble was the plane sets. That first one we all flew was German early 109s, 110s and Stukas against Russian bi-planes. So thankfully most of us flew Blue. But I left before the 2nd map loaded, what was that then? Oh and the other little spanner in the work was the threat of getting kicked if you pick a plane that has suddenly become 'over-subscribed'. I flew a Tempest on UKDed2, got shot down, I hit re-fly and as I took off, I saw a warning in the chat-bar saying that I could not use this plane. As soon as my wheels left the ground, I got kicked off the server! Rattler thankfully informed us to use the Overall, it would be nice to do continue doing this weekly, as it'll save on someone having to host AND I don't have to wait around. I can just join in as soon as I fire up my PC. p.s. I'm not a mentalist when I say this, so believe me when I say that I saw BG fly for the BLUE side!!! In a JU-88! He must of fell off his chair and banged his head half way through and switched sides whilst delirious.
  7. Closest we have this I reckon...
  8. That would of been handy utility to have during the Kuban SEOW. As Frior did all his own custom maps & mission briefs with virtual coloured crayons. But as you say, as useful as a chocolate teapot for most of the mongrels that inhabit here.
  9. Rattler, Could you take a photo of the paint schemes the instructions have for this model and show me please? As I've bought an Airfix 1/72 model 109-G6 and it has transfer and paint scheme (in black and white) for the same squadron as your one, JG53 "Pik As". I'm looking around to find decent colour scheme photos.
  10. From the BBC... http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/chec ... am=1&asb=1 Anyone know what it is?
  11. So what's so special about that then huh? I can fly faster than that thing in my G2!
  12. Wow! Just how does the Public Sector, from governments all around the world, manage to poach these people to work for them? Do they have spies in hospitals? So when they find medical records like people like this guy, they hire them straight away? http://my.break.com/media/view.aspx?ContentID=160871
  13. We already have K9 red and blue Spitfire skins, why not use them?
  14. I saw the title of this and thought I'd take a look to see if I could do something. But sheesh, you don't ask for a simple scheme do you Mobius One.
  15. We tried to get air races going a few months back Mobius One, but there's little interest. This lot can't wait 6 seconds from take-off before they have to clamp on to the fire button and shoot the nearest lump of metal.
  16. Anyone else seen this that was posted on Ubizoo recently? http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.p ... ost2259419 I downloaded and installed this and IT IS UNBELIEVABLE!!! The race tracks are insane and the custom skins for the I-16s are absolutely stunning. Check it out yourself.
  17. You're nuts Frior!
  18. Until your rounds are heading in one direction and your opponent in the other! "...Where is he going? He's supposed to fly into my rounds over there, the eejit!..."
  19. I had to Google what you were on about. Nope sorry, haven't got that game.
  20. ... true.
  21. Oh you mean you want to give gunnery exercises? I thought you meant you wanted to test the different effects of lag on shooting opponents. No probs, I can fly around as a mobile lead magnet, if others fancy it. As of last Sunday, I'm a gold medal winner in this event!
  22. How do you mean to test this Frior? My thought is... 1 person is set as the target plane and flies at a constant speed and height in a long, wide circle. Say around 280Kmh. Then have 2 attackers in identical A/C. One chap has a low ping and the other has a vastly higher ping. Say 1x N.American and 1x European. They'll also need identical convergence settings I fancy. Then each attacker takes it in turns to shoot at the invincible target plane at the same distance, say around 200m and with matching airspeed. Then they can tell us how much lead they had to give. Or all the rest can observe from the external view of the target plane. Any other ideas?
  23. That's good to hear Delta7. I'm still trying to get hold of a bottle of Future Floor Wax myself. Bloody model shop near me ran out.
