  1. I thought I would pass on the info related to me by Sid. By default you use the mouse to control your gun. With the latest release it is now possible to use your joystick. To do this; 1. Within the Input Devices section of the game select Turret Control and change the option from Mouse to Joystick. Once done, go into your key mappings and under the Turret Horizontal and Vertical (direct) map your joystick. Works a treat. Salute Friar

    Welcome

Salute I thought that I would create a new home for anything related to using the tanks in IL2 great Battles.
  3. Salute Sir and welcome to the "pound" Our main ethos is to have fun. You are not expected to fly every time we have a server up, but do ask if you have signed up for an event and can not make a night you let someone know. We do not require you to attend any training, or assessments, we have no organisational structure by way of ranks. Our nights for IL2 GBS are Tuesday where we start (approx 19:30 uk time) with general dogfight map to run with the scenario or to practice etc then move to co-ops after about 45 minutes or so. Unless we are flying our current P38 campaign which alternates between Sundays and Tuesdays. We also fly Sunday evenings with the same format as Tuesday. There are also a few that fly on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday mornings (subject to availability and not all weeks) from about 10:am for a couple of hours. A group fly DCS on Thursdays, you may also find one or two in either Clod or 46 on a Saturday evening. We communicate via Teamspeak on which we ask for a respectful presence (well at least until you get to know us!). The topics of conversation may be weird and wonderful but we tend to stay clear of politics and controversial subjects, that is not why we fly. As well as the current long running P38 co-op campaign, I am putting together a Dogfight scenario for the 22nd November where we will split into separate Teamspeak channels and race to complete 3 objectives, oh and there will be driveable tanks as well!. have a look here and post a message for which side you would like to fight for... Welcome again and I look forward to having you on my Six soon. Cheers Friar
  4. No, I have not set any restrictions on numbers. Although there are Repair / Rearm and Refuel points so if you wanted to try and keep the same plane / tank all the way through you could.
  5. Salute May I PLEASE,PLEASE ask... Anyone who is thinking that they may have a go at using a tank during the up coming (22nd November) Dog Fight Scenario... PLEASE make sure you fully understand the controls BEFORE the event. You may need to map some new commands to your stick and understand how they work etc. You can practice in an off line Quick Mission. Arriving on the night and asking "How do I start, How do I get the gun to fire" etc will not be appreciated. This event has 3 objectives for each side to achieve to take the map and I am hoping that this will get the pulses racing a bit with little time to get you up to speed on the night. There is plenty of time for you to have a go and ask questions on the forum. There is a growing number of us that have Tank Crew that could help. Thank you for your cooperation. Cheers Friar.
  6. .....How about a Dogz "Zoom" call at the start of a flying night? Just for say half an hour (or the max 40 minutes) to remind ourselves what each other looks like, or for some it might be the first time you put a face to a name. It would mean Painless would have to get dressed of course, well at least put a top on.... I will host so if you would like to take part, think of it as attending the Priory for a service. PM me your email address and I will include you in the invite.
  7. Hi, BlueBear, Hope you do not mind (and hope it can be seen) but I have posted a link to Youtube in the IL2 Sturmovik forums, excellent recruitment tool!
  8. Salute is there anyone with tank experience that would be willing to offer their assistance in helping me design the game play for the dog fight scenario? It will mean that potentially you would have to take a "foot soldier" role for your side (so perhaps someone from the Allies side?) as you may be made aware of what I am thinking for potential tactics so could not use that information to the benefit of your side. I will try to keep it to a minimum so as not to spoil your night but I just need advice on what scenario I am thinking for the tank engagement. Cheers Friar
  9. Salute guys, Thank you to everyone that has signed up. If you haven't signed up yet - Please do, the more combatants we have the better the scenario will work. There is still plenty of time for you or that guy who used to fly with us that you are in contact with...... Sunday 22nd November Put it in your diaries now!, tell the wife, your partner, the children, your mistress (other relationships are available) that you will be busy that evening! Cheers Friar PS before anyone asks I did check with Fenrir that it does not clash with a P38 night.
  10. Wow! that was amazing BlueBear. Top work sir, couldn't believe it was us for a minute there!
  11. @Pooka- pick a side sir please. It will help with the numbers. Thankyou.
  12. OK - Thanks to Vanders Mission Generator (which I have now learnt to modify) - WE ARE ON! (if people sign up of course!) I have a dogfight map with 3 objectives for each side to win the map. There are AI fighter patrols and bombing missions against the objectives for both sides. The map is Velikieluki (which everyone will have) and is not too big. Its October, 1942 (ish......) Both sides have tank spawn points as well as primary and secondary airfields. I have included the free tanks plus a couple from each side for those that have Tank Crew. The plane sets give a good spread of popular flyable fighter and bombers for both sides (no P38!) This may fall flat on its face but I feel it is a throw back to the good old days of the Dogz and worth having a go at again. @Perf - "Check" on points 2 and 3 All we need now is sign ups.... this needs quite a few on both sides to make it work I think. Message your buddies, round up the stragglers.... I would like to fly / fight for the Allies (10) Sid, Painless, Crash, Jabo, Wingflyer, Fenrir, Arthur,Perfesser, Zukker, Funflack I would like to fly / fight for the Axis (11) Friar, FT, Pooka, Delta, BlueBear, APHill, Fruitbat,Ovy, Artie,Swepper, Tbone If you are unable to edit this post just make a new post in this thread with your choice and I will update. Note: In the attached images ignore the padlocked items, its just that I do not own them.
  13. Having just started playing with the 2 free tanks that come with GBS (liked them so much I have now purchased Tank Crew) and with a bit more free time on hands at the moment, I got to thinking....... I am considering working on a Special Dogfight Scenario (run on a single night) where players will be able to pick a tank or fly a plane (as usual) and take sides Axis or Allies (and possibly split off to separate TeamSpeak rooms). Being a Dogfight you could if you wanted change from tank to plane or plane to tank if you are killed. There will be a scenario, for example capture a town (still thinking about this). Will your side get air superiority? Can you support your tanks? Can your tanks stop the advice of the enemy? For this to work we would need a good turn out. Please let me know if you think this has some validity/ chance of working? Salute Friar
  14. That is fantastic work Fen. It will make the mission start and ends even more awesome.
  15. The Spa 24 Hour race for GT3 cars is on 24-25th October (https://www.total24hours.com/) as part of SRO GT3 International Challenge Series. The race usually starts late afternoon European time on Saturday and goes through till Sunday. The race is streamed live on the GTWorld Youtube channel (which I think is not location blocked) Does anyone fancy having a shared watching experience (we could be on teamspeak but all watching the same stream)? Salute Friar
  16. Excellent Reggie - that's the spirit....
  17. I may have that itch back
  18. He asked about having his bush trimmed.....
  19. Ok White flock, it's your new Shepard here... i hope to be able to live up to the excellent leadership that has gone before me. i would like to bring a new style to our flight and provide an incentive to hit our objectives. Pilots achieving their targets can, if they wish, pick a number from the holy book of wisdom. Pilots who have not performed so well will be asked to pick 3 numbers from the holy book, this way the wisdom will bring a strength, fortitude and courage for the next flight (and the threat of the rest of the flight expressing their gratitude for the enlightenment.) Above all I ask you all to fly well, aim straight and any "accidental" weapons testing in my general direction while in formation will be seen in a very bad light. " affectus enim est ovium "
  20. Salute Stella - I fly in VR as well and am happy to help with stick settings. What sort of gear do you have stick wise?
  21. Friar reporting back from R&R and ready for duty Sir.
  22. How strange....I had a foreboding that without me by his side something would happen to my wing leader.
  23. Just to confirm I will be unavailable for Sunday as on R&R
  24. yes but what colour were his underpants on that day....
