I am thinking a German advance from East to West towards Bastogne?
-
Trouble is a lot of the actual towns and roads are missing from the in game map, below is what we have to work with for the area
-
Been thinking about this and have done a little bit of googling / research and... Ok, "Battle of The Bulge" it is...! We will play it from the German side. But I am going to need some help / advice if we are to do this properly (or as properly as possible), or at least give the actual events a slight nod. @Parts, @Perfesser Would you two be willing to set up a call with me so we can discuss the scenario and what is achievable on the map with the units we have available? @Sid - You may need to dust off your skinning powder again if that is ok?
-
If I were to embark on the "Battle of the Bulge" (and it would be quite an undertaking) do we want to be Allied, German or split up and be supported by AI on both sides?

Salute As we approach the end of our "Road to Arnhem" mission pack, my thoughts are starting to turn to "what next"? Does anyone have any ideas for a series of missions they would like to see used for a Saturday night? Another Sherman series, a change to German or another T34 series? Or even perhaps a fictional scenario that we could build on? Your thoughts and ideas would be welcome (If we all said "I don't care what we do", we may end up with nothing.) Cheers Friar

The Road To Arnhem - Episode 3 Your objective today is to reach the outskirts of Nijmegen, just over 17km away in preparation for an assault on the road bridge over the river Waal. To get to Nijmegen you will need to capture the bridges at Grave / Keent (1116 np2) and also cross the bridge to the South West of Nijmegen.(1117 np 7) We are expecting to encounter units of German forces that have retreated from Veghel and Volkel. Good luck gentlemen. Todays code word is "SwordFish"

I wanted to make you guys aware of the excellent work BeeBop does over on the Il2 forums with his "hacks" https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/62785-beebops-hack-shack/ There are some really nice hacks (planes re skined to make them "like" something else e.g. U-2Vs as a US spotter or a Sword Fish, an IL2 as a Fairy Battle etc. Might put a spotter plane in my next Tank mission?

Hi Beebop, thanks for stopping by. You still have Dogz status, so post where you like, try Jim's Place for starters to say high again. I will PM you. Cheers Friar Thanks for your help over on the IL2 forums ref mission building by the way.

Summer Dog fight map has been updated. Change Log Added the new ammo trucks on the range. new feature added to the south eastern town, Toma..what ever it is You can now go T34 hunting. Spawn in as German, kill the car and up to 3 will be released just like the Tigers. Due to the size of the town they are all within the area bounded by the yellow line. This line will only show when you have killed the car to start the process. Have fun, any problems, requests let me know. I have also moved the spawn points in a bit in Provahovka. Enjoy

Found this thread over at the Il2 forums. Seems like a nice guide and is being kept up to date as well. Example Page: Pilots notes 2-17-21.pdf

I am proposing to run the second mission in M4A2 (Sherman) series I am putting together on Saturday which sees the unit moving on from Veghel to Volkel. Being a much smaller town it should not take as long to overcome the obstacles! Look forward to seeing you all there.

Found this on the IL2 forum from a guy called Thad who I have gone to numerous times ref mission building and who I consider an all round good egg; I ended up developing multiple 'input' files for TC and for the aircraft. 1. I key mapped everything for Tanks and insured that everything worked as I assigned. 2. I then saved a copy of that 'input' folder and placed it in a newly created 'data' folder. 3. I then created a 'TankInput' folder and place the new 'data' folder into a new 'TankInput' folder. 4. I then placed the TankInput folder in my MODS folder for activation and deactivation as a mod. Now, whenever I want to go tanking.. I simply activate my TankInput mod. I Deactivate it when I want to use my plane inputs files. I did the same procedure for Single Engine Planes and Twin Engine Planes. Note: The only thing in each separate data folder is the single specific 'input' folder. The default 'input' folder size is only 250 kbs. No problem. There is no need to copy the games Data folder. Just the 'input' folder. Might help if you are running out of keys?
