  1. Get this utility @Crash It was a breeze. All you do is install it to a new folder NOT the same one as your game. Point it at the game folder and the saved games folder. Click on Advanced options and select update to latest Open Beta version. Robert is now your fathers brother... You might also find its other features worthwhile as it can start up VR and stuff as well for you. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/134493-the-dcs-updater-gui-utility/#comment-134499
  2. Thanks to @fruitbat and the link to an excellent utility - I now have the Open Beta and have been able to connect to the server all ok.
  3. I have downloaded the file @DD_Fenrir but where do I put it please? EDIT: Forget that - quick Google and I now know what to do.
  4. Another example of Fenrir doing what Fenrir does. Hey, thats me in the brown and green plane next to Fruitbat, my first appearance in a DCS video!
  5. Another good session last night (Friday). Decided that going straight to having a go at carrier landings was taking on a bit too much as I don't think I had even landed on the runway! Have decided on a plan of action. 1. Practice landings on the runway getting to know the angle of attack. (First lesson learned last night, do not land with full tanks of fuel, makes you too heavy and breaks the under carriage). For take off and go around and land I changed to 30% which then made the plane lighter and also made landings possible. I ended the evening completing 4 or 5 successful touch downs, take off again and land in succession. No blowing stuff up, but still an interesting evening. 2. Practice landings on the runway and target getting it down on the white block lines at the end of the runway (thanks @fruitbat for that idea) 3. Then move to carrier landings. Have realised that I need to map trim better on my stick. I could feel myself pulling back on the stick all the way in to get the right angle (as instructed by @DD_Fenrir but to date ignored Sorry Teacher.)
  6. I have tried the calibration this morning without success. I have now also noticed another issue with the throttle. When I move the throttle one of the rotarys goes up and down as well. Its going back.
  7. @delta7 My laptop is old and besides I need it to work on the PC. After putting it back in the box and was preparing to send it back today I have been convinced by the guys last night to try the calibration process, so we will see what happens with that.
  8. yep
  9. @BluBear - dont think so. just tried it in a powered hub and got same issue. I also do not like the fact that it is jumping all over the place in the control panel at the start.
  10. So after ordering a new stick that never turned up I ordered another one. Arrived this afternoon. Started setting up and as soon as i installed the drivers and plug them in I get this..... https://youtu.be/RuqAfqFfBts
  11. Salute, So now I have another issue. My X52 (soon to be replaced so I am wondering if "it knows...") has stopped working in game. When I go into the key mappings and move the joy stick left and right the game sees it and assigns it. Same for the Throttle. However when I go in game, they do not work (no flaps or aileron movement, no stick movement in cockpit, no revs increase with throttle) The other buttons on the joystick I have mapped like close canopy and flaps do work, it seems to be just the two axis. I have checked that the game settings are set to joystick and not reverted for some warped reason back to mouse. I have checked the devices in the control panel and they all working as expected. Any ideas? regards Friar EDIT - RESOLVED - So I did what I think a few people were suggesting last night for the CH Peddles and deleted the devices.txt file. Everything seems to be working correctly now.

  12. Very interesting. Thanks for posting Fen.
  13. Thanks Delta. I have gone for CH Pedals and Logitech G X56. Eagerly awaiting the delivery.
  14. Been learning about the history of this plane...
  15. Well as there do not seem to be any Saitek ones around I have gone for it so will see how it goes when they turn up.
  16. All sorted now - was due to me not having line of sight to the signal from the carrier (a little knowledge is a dangerous thing). Thanks to Fruitbat for acting as my Instructor in the back seat and putting me right. Thanks to @fruitbat and @DD_Fenrir for the session on Saturday evening.
  17. Above - Fenrir doing what Fenrir does....
  18. just checking out another video and it shows what I am seeing
  19. No, I have watched Grim Reapers video for the T-45 and it clearly shows the TACAN symbol in the direction I need to fly (see attached) but when I try and do it I do not see the icon?
  20. Salute I have had a look at the video Fruitbat posted about how to use the TACAN in the T-45 however I dont think it is working the same now? (unless I am doing it wrong, which is a high possibility) I wanted to navigate to the carrier which has a code of 74X STN. I plugged 74 into the TACAN box and switched on. The button to select X/Y does not seem tot work? I set the left display to TCAN but the display did not show the icon for the TACAN as demonstrated in the video, plus the heading seemed out? Is there any chance someone who knows about these things could try setting it up and tell me if there is an issue or it is me doing something wrong? Many thanks regards Friar
  21. Salute I am thinking of replacing my Saitek X52 with a new setup (current pedals are old and not fully working, stick has some issues etc). I have been looking at CH Products as a possible decent value replacement. What do we think of CH Products as an alternative? I can pickup stick, throttle and pedals for £230? I am not going to Fruitbats level and going Virpil before anyone suggests!
  22. It is so fen can put it on the server for Sid - I may fly it but have downloaded it just to help Sid.
