Please read and follow the instructions to ghost carefully- see link above and ghost home page on web-I wiped out a partition by backing up from one partition into another partition and not from partition into image on backup partition :oops: - fortunatly I had backed up my data on this file or I would have lost my digital photographs. I would make sure that no matter what you buy that you partition it and keep one or two partitions soley for ghost backups so you reduce chances of errors.

nice dazza- is this a new tactic? fly through them and hope they miss you and shoot each other down ? actually Iv never seen the bomber gunners hit their own side - anyone ? there was a tale from the war from one of the B17 crews that Me 109 pilot flew along side them for a few minuites right in the heart of a box - then waved and split Sd away - always took it with a large dose of salt but maybe our Dazza is trying it out

I have started recording tracks of most of my engagements and play them back to see how I fly and Iv picked up many pointers. The main thing is that in a dogfight there is a very thin line between success and failure - for example on Sunday there was a good match up with spits vs Me109 k s , I was flying a spit and never saw one of the bandits close and actually hit me - fortunatly the shot didnt appear to do any damage and I went into a spiral dive and shook him off- I went on to fly and score well in that mission but it could have been so different - anyway this wee tale is just to recommend that you all think about recording tracks if you dont already do so . Oh and Check six !!!!!

Hi mate- you will need to uninstall your existing copy - either through windows add remove or via the cd, then you will be able to install the new version. if you want to keep your old folders for campaigns , skins etc then copy the entire il2fb folder to another directory or better still another partition and name it something like il2backup. for good info on installing/uninstalling, multiple installs and trouble shooting see here http://www.airwarfare.com/guides/patching.htm good luck

when playtesting I got them all with the spit and the hawk (p-40) - the spit was too easy with the cannon. :mrgreen: I got 3 or 4 with the hurricane so should be possible to get all 8. :wink: The secret I found was to cull them out of the herd. Just get them leaking fuel or smoking on a pass and break and move onto next bandit and repeat. It will take a few passes on each plane. I have never been able to bring one of those SOBs down in a single run. If it aint possible with the huricane then Ill take the fastest time with the hawk as I know this is definatly possible. but Im sure you can do it with the hurricane psycho I like jensenparks suggestion so a second medel for the most downed on LIMITED ammo with the spitfire

That's a heinous cheat, that I didn't know about, and therefore must try out just to prove how terrible it is! :x I didnt know about it either until I flew on UKDED :oops: - In fact I flew on UKDED1 for about a month before I realised they had wonder women and externals enabled- coouldnt work out how some were pulling off the crazy deflection shots :shock: - anyway I dont play there now , just warclouds and UKded2. So even tho they allow externals I like the guys on UKDED2- most fly pit on and the cracks good there, and I get better pings than US servers. but if you use F6 in co-ops Iv heard that the Rightious Fairey of Fair Play will come along and remove yer reproductive gear :dmage:

F6 switches to externals and padlocks the nearest enemy aircraft F7 switches to externals and padlocks the nearest enemy ground target I dislike the use of these as much as wonder-woman on servers- as on some servers people use F6 as a radar- you can never bnz or sneak on them as they see you coming for miles, unfortunatly you cant fly with externals on and disable these so we are stuck with them. I think externals are ok for co-ops, to view action once you have been shot down or for takeoffs but I have always flown closed pit as it gives me the most immersion.

yep this sim sure does look purty especially on perfect mode on a good card.

Its best to think of it as taking an exact image of what you want to copy - e.g. drive or partition. and storing this on another drive or partition or disc. It copies the binery data so is much deeper than just windows copy command. If you want to format because your machine is slow and registry is clogged up then there is no point in doing a ghost image and then formatting and then reinstalling this image after the format cause all the old shit would be back in place-exactly as before. It is also no use storing the image on a drive or partition that you format as it will be lost in the format so yes you need to store it on a seperate drive or partition or disc. where it scores is that you take a ghost image when you are happy you have a fast stable system and then install this image after a format to save you a heck of a lot of time reinstalling windows and service packs and up to date drivers and all your programs and patches and so gets you quickly back to a clean uncluttered system now it is up to you when you take your ghost image or images. Some like to take one just after installing windows+ service packs+ drivers and some like to do it once they have added their standard programs such as antivirus +office and photoshop etc. and some backup retentives ( ahem ) have 2 or 3 images stored on discs ready to use should something go wrong with windows or their hard drive. so its a safety factor to protect your programs or data from loss or a time saver if you have something go wrong and you have to reinstall. hope this helps
