Gentlemen We have successfully cleared the enemy front lines. They are fighting a rear-guard action and preparing to withdraw troops and equipment to the north. Our next task is to hit the trains and transport convoys before they depart. Intelligence suggests that air opposition will not be as much as previously as the Luftwaffe regroup after heavy losses. The next round will be delayed as I am on holiday next week. Scheduled to take place on Sunday 6th April

Thanks for your efforts Colin what are your thoughts on the amount of enemy air activity? I feel it is slightly too much as every time I loaded with bombs I had to ditch these and go air to air

I'm sorry but can't commit to Friday nights -
Gentlemen Between our air effort and the SAS ground forces in destroying the bunkers the invasion fleet is ready to sail for the Italian mainland without fear from the guns. The fleet is gathering at the South East of Sicily, we must protect this from the enemy bombers who are en route to destroy the ships. Once enemy air cover is destroyed there are secondary targets of trucks and tanks that are transporting reinforcements to the key enemy defensive position in 0611. Mission is scheduled for Sunday 2nd March 2100 hrs

Gentlemen Latest intelligence is that due to the dug in nature of the coastal gun emplacements, it will be difficult to destroy these from the air Our mission is still to soften up the defences to allow us to take the harbour Our new directive is to destroy the lighter guns and troop barracks in the area to allow a crack team of SAS and marines to land and destroy the large coastal guns. These are stationed mid channel awaiting the go ahead Primary targets is Fortress HQ and the smaller guns and troops dotted around the entrance to Boughrara Gun positions and HQ are on the map.

Gentlemen Despite our best efforts the enemy has succeeded in withdrawing significant amounts of men and material to the mainland. Our next task is to soften up the coastal batteries in preparation for a troop landing in Southern Italy The primary task is to eliminate the control and command HQ in a fortress and to eliminate the coastal guns guarding the entrance to the port of Boughrara The A20s will bomb , the spitfires will escort. Expect heavy air cover Mission is scheduled for 16th Feb 2100 uk time

DCS Event: Ramrod 564 - The Amiens Prison Raid [REDUX]
delta7 replied to DD_Fenrir's topic in DCS Series
We were planning to run missions on 2nd and 16th of February. If no other suitable date then I can postpone for a one off -
We have successfully hindered the enemy withdrawal by sea, the next objective are enemy airfields. Transport planes have landed there to ferry men and material to the mainland , we have an opportunity to catch them on the ground as they refuel. P-38s will attack at low level and bomb the stationary planes. Spitfires will provide cover. Expect heavy flak and air cover as the enemy try to protect their comrades . P-38s are limited to 2*500 for first sortie then any bombload they like for further sorties It will be an air start with ground bases available to land at if required Mission scheduled for Sunday 2nd February

Operation Husky Gentlemen We have been reassigned to Malta and the conversion onto spitfires is proceeding apace. We must hurry , High Command are planning to invade Sicily and there are rumours that an enemy convoy is en route to help evacuate their troops, we must get ready to provide cover for our attack planes as they try to intercept the fleet. The next mission will take place on Sunday the 19th.

Suggestion: Make Tuesday or Sunday a DCS night and Monday a GBS night
delta7 replied to DD_Fenrir's topic in Jim's Place
I feel the Box group are being dismissed. Yes it is a minority but Jim set up this squad to be fair and equal to all members. The last 2 recruits, mossie and petrol only fly BOX so are we going to say that they are not as valuable as those who only fly DCS ? We are not recruiting either in Box or Dcs and the 16 members Fen mentioned are practically the squad now, I cant see how changing nights would improve anything for the squad as a whole but impact BOX more. One other issue regarding Sundays is that we host the missions with the 352nd , where we get 12 to 16 flyers, something that I have put a lot of time and effort into and that I would not be happy if it was removed. I have always supported other members missions and would like to think that the same curtesy would be applied to my own. I realise that I am in a minority and that the more influential members will get the change they desire but I would ask that they respect the Sunday nights we fly with the 352nd, its the only time that the Box flyers use the server to host. -
I will get in touch with 353nd and propose to restart these a week on Sunday ,which is the 19th
-
I have gotten a positive response from 352nd and out group so will restart these soon. I am in discussions with deacon over their proposed missions and will feed back to all with any proposals

Suggestion: Make Tuesday or Sunday a DCS night and Monday a GBS night
delta7 replied to DD_Fenrir's topic in Jim's Place
Why are we bringing this up again? just recently we had a vote on this, are we just ignoring this and repeating untill one part of the squad get their own way ? do the dcs users really need Tuesday or Sunday when they get such good numbers already? They can use any other nights. I thought Monday and Thursday were dedicated for them. as the box group only use our servers on Sundays you could run dcs anytime you like but to me it would adversely effect the squad if you run two groups on the same night -
I would like to guage interest in continuing with this. The next planned phase is Italy mid war so we would fly allied with p-50b, p-38, spitfires, A-20s I have emailed the 352nd to see what their thoughts are but would like to know the dogz opinion. I am happy to generate the missions as long as people are interested but if folk think they are repetative/uninteresting then Im willing to listedn to alternative suggestions re regards dave

Thanks Rog, and for informing the box crew still use team speak.

Congratulations gents Despite strong air cover resulting in some loses we managed to destroy a key bridge and harass the axis tanks. Due to our sterling efforts the axis have lost all control of North Africa and have retreated to italy or surrendered. Our next mission is of vital importance to the war effort. The boffins have stated that if we can disrupt oil supplies to the axis forces this will cripple their war effort. Due to us controlling Libya we are able to launch an attack on oil fields in Romania, our target is Poliesti , a major oil refinery . Due to air cover we will attack on the deck with A 20s. escort will be P-51 b Operation Tidal Wave was an air attack by bombers of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) based in Libya on nine oil refineries around Ploiești, Romania, on 1 August 1943, during World War II. It was a strategic bombing mission and part of the "oil campaign" to deny petroleum-based fuel to the Axis powers. This operation was one of the costliest for the USAAF in the European Theater, with 53 aircraft and 500 aircrewmen lost. It was proportionally the most costly major Allied air raid of the war, and its date was later referred to as "Black Sunday". Five Medals of Honor and 56 Distinguished Service Crosses, along with numerous other awards, went to Operation Tidal Wave crew members. A 1999 research report prepared for the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama concluded that the bombing campaign in Ploiești was "one of the bloodiest and most heroic missions of all time".[

The 352nd are proposing to start a continuous online campaign in the new year where every action will effect the front line, supplies etc, they are canvassing support from others but if we get enough numbers then they will consider running it on Sunday s at our regular time, so if anyone is interested in joining, either flying or tanking please let me know here and I will let deacon know
