  1. :blind: say that it looks like a neat wee bomber command console they have done similar in the past and like a true scotsman Im waiting for them to drop to rediculously low prices on e-bay before investing
  2. I honestly think you can do betteer for your bucks than a hp.
  3. the 1950 pro regularly gets the best reviews in class- its the best value and what I should have put in my new rig - but I wanted to try the newer nvidea to check out the IQ - but I think youve made the right choice mate
  4. yeah - inverterate tinkerer that I am - Iv tried excellent and perfect mucked around with aa and af screen resolutions drivers everything looks ok on my standard tracks but in game I get a bit of shimmering , especially on water, so makes it hard to spot objects might try perfect again with the ngo drivers
  5. yes mate - I have tried running game on core 1 and core 2 but made no difference -have reset to just letting windows decide - see here for more detaails on how to set it up http://www.dangerdogz.com/forums/index.php?topic=3330.0 havnt done this as mine is stable 58 fps on black death on excellent and thats good enough for me
  6. nice spec. honestly dont know much about sli - feeling is that it is overkill for this version but who knows for BOB. I am running a 512 mb 8600 and have tried both the latest nvidea and the ngo drivers and have had no problems- however I dont think that the iq is as good as ATI and have more trouble spotting objects with this card than my 850 ATI. BBloke was calling out objects last night in a mission and I just couldnt see them. IMHO a single 1950xt ATI is the optimum card for this game or a 1950 pro for bang for bucks but this is a personal thing- pm quazi mate for better info before doing anything on graphics front
  7. post here mate and Ill have a look - have you ordered it yet or are you just looking ? if you have not ordered have a look at this shop - I bought mine from here and its excellent value http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Computer-HQ-Ltd this is the same as I bought http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Intel-Core2-E6750 ... dZViewItem note this is just the box - no monitor/keyboard etc also no windows only weak point is the graphics card

  12. from your post you can see that the video card is not detected- Display Tab 1: The system is using the generic video driver. Please install video driver provided by the hardware manufacturer. Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer. Sound Tab 1: No sound card was found. If one is expected, you should install a sound driver provided by the hardware manufacturer. --------------- Display Devices --------------- Card name: Manufacturer: Chip type: DAC type: Device Key: Enum\ Display Memory: n/a Current Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (1Hz) Monitor: Monitor Max Res: Driver Name: vga.dll Driver Version: 5.01.2600.0000 (English) DDI Version: unknown Driver Attributes: Final Retail Driver Date/Size: 8/23/2001 07:00:00, 9344 bytes WHQL Logo'd: Yes WHQL Date Stamp: n/a VDD: n/a Mini VDD: vga.sys Mini VDD Date: 8/3/2004 16:07:08, 20992 bytes Device Identifier: {D7B70EE0-4340-11CF-B063-282AAEC2C835} Vendor ID: 0x0000 Device ID: 0x0000 SubSys ID: 0x00000000 Revision ID: 0x0000 Revision ID: 0x0000 Video Accel: Deinterlace Caps: n/a Registry: OK DDraw Status: Not Available D3D Status: Not Available AGP Status: Not Available DDraw Test Result: Not run D3D7 Test Result: Not run D3D8 Test Result: Not run D3D9 Test Result: Not run you say you have installed the motherboard chipset drivers- can you check that the agp is enabled in bios and it isnt just looking for some other on board device- I think you said it was dual pci and agp so make sure correct source is enabled - do the same with the sound card make sure it isnt looking for on board sound. as others have suggested take it out and clean the connections and reseat the card then check and double check all the power supplies on the board and especially the power supply to the card good luck

  15. COLD GAMBLER - bloke has suggested most of my favourites like sound and effects etc but here are some additional suggestions I have been tweaking the video options in the game and this is what is best for me on an ati 850 agp visability distance - medium
  16. Thanks mate but iv done this but mine still reboots
  17. usually in xp if you get the blue screen the machine will reboot automatically and you wont have time to read the error, however the message is written to a file and you can read this with a free microsoft tool - anyway this article tells you how http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35246 you can then use the information to identify the problem and try to fix it
  18. happy birthday mate S
  19. One thing that we could improve is out takeoff and landings. there are very often restarts or scrapping takeoffs for airstarts in our co-ops and this leads to a lack of practice. It can also cause problems with host or others machines with continual restarts. Now I know that Im probably setting myself up for a big fall but I think I do ok here and so Ill put up a checklist and some hints and I hope this helps others- most of this will be well known but hopefully it will help some. hopefully some of our JO chaps can have a look over this and give it the benifit of their experience and training as they do a bit of this there remember that if you crash on takeoff then you could be sitting there for 30mins or more waiting for others to finish. stay calm - let the game settle - spawns and takeoff put a load on any machine so take everything carefully. 1) know where you are in line. In normal co-ops switch to external view and look. In closed pit then start your engine, put full left rudder and SLOWLY throttle up- JUST enough to swing the nose so you can see the runway in front.then throttle off and brake to sit in line dont roll forward and stop as AI or your mates will think your taking off and plough into the back of you 2) NORMAL AIRFIELDS when runway is clear then put full right rudder and swing nose slowly until lined up with centre of runway lock tailwheel put flaps to takeoff most planes and especially spitfires will dip their nose on takeoff so put in a little uptrim if you use manual prop pitch make sure it is at 100% throttle up smoothly ( if you slam the throttle forward you will swing more) the planes nose
