During the war , a local airfield was used as a training unit. It was primerily for converting pilots onto spitfires . Today I took some photographs -
here is the cairn that marks the site of the former airfield- the large building in the background was one of the hangers

there is a local museum where the ATC have built a replica of the airfield as it would have been
there are also the remains of a crashed spitfire
unfortunatly there were many casualties - here is the memorial at the local cemetry and some of the gravestones - there were boys from all over Poland, Chechoslovakia, Australia, Canada etc
