First this is not meant as a critisicm of anyone but rather hopefully a way to improve our sessions Over the last few weeks when I have flown I have done two missions per night. Missions are lasting 30. 40 mins or longer , there are some who are happy to fly the whole mission including taking a long time to RTB and land. Alternatively some may find it a bit boring waiting on others to finish and if you stuff up your ground attack, get shot down , have a technical glitch or wish to join it means that there is a long time you are doing nothing until next mission loads. In the old days BG had a rule that if so many were down or not engaged then the mission was ended so others could fly. Im not sure if the squad has the same sentiments now. I would like to suggest that we run a dogfight server alongside the co-ops so those who are not active in the co-op have something to do , with our squadmates, until the next mission loads. I have no idea how to host, last time i tried it with 46 was a stutter fest so I realise I am asking others to step up here and help, there may also be issues with comms but I hope the squad can get together and find a practical solution to this issue. Regards Dave

Went a run today to the Jim Clark Museum in his hometown of Duns . For those who dont know about Jim here is a summery James Clark Jr. OBE (4 March 1936 – 7 April 1968) was a British Formula One racing driver from Scotland, who won two World Championships, in 1963 and 1965. Clark was a versatile driver who competed in sports cars, touring cars and in the Indianapolis 500, which he won in 1965.[2][3][4] He was particularly associated with the Lotus marque. Clark was killed in a Formula Two racing accident in 1968 in Hockenheim, West Germany.[5][6][7] At the time of his death, aged 32, he had won more Grand Prix races (25) and achieved more Grand Prix pole positions (33) than any other driver. In 2009, The Times placed Clark at the top of a list of the greatest-ever Formula One drivers.[8] Road down, sunny and empty roads Selfie Museum Jim Clark His record Trophys Indionapolis 500 trophy Jim raced in many caregories , touring cars F1 F2 these are his championship trophys from 1 year his cars On 7 April 1968, Clark died in a racing accident at the Hockenheimring in West Germany Legend

Battle of Bodenplatte Feedback
delta7 replied to Mayhem's topic in IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles Series
Most of us have bitten the bullet and bought, Stalingrad, Moscow and Kuban when sales are on, note that bodenplatte won't be on sale yet, sneaky wee comma separated the message. It is difficult for host if don't have planeset . If funds tight then bodenplatte and Kuban would be a good start. -
Battle of Bodenplatte Feedback
delta7 replied to Mayhem's topic in IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles Series
Hi mate, il2 46 is now no longer flown by the dogs, bodenplatte has taken its place. The sim is as good as if not better than 46 , and especially since the bodenplatte update has Added some more interesting planes. Only downside is the lack of variaty and theatres compared to 46 , the fact that it is expensive to have all the options and the mission editor/ generator for multiplayer does not seem As good as 46 , I miss the regular missions we flew and FTs special missions. -
Iv seen this and it goes away once throttle is used and airborne

I'd be happy to take part, don't have bok tho -
Is there a new control scheme for 2 engine planes, bit confused, used to fly pe2 but now it wont take prop pitch rpm or mix input so although I can start engines I cant take off without getting full rpm, other single engine planes take input, do I need to map rpm and pitch to engine 1 and engine 2 seperatly now ta

Yes that sounds good, just wanted to keep up the momentum, we have a habit of letting things slip, but that soundsike a good plan

Are we moving any further forward with this? If we agree to fenrirs proposed dates then we should perhaps move to next stage of advertising these and trying to get more participants, both internally and externally. Perhaps we can get a couple of volunteers to champion the 2 main sims ,box and dcs, post on forums and be a point of contact. We also should look at hosting, we are very reliant on FT, id say overreliant , and while he is generous and willing to give his time perhaps we should have others willing and able to take up the task of hosting should it be needed. I am aware that I am asking others to step up while not able to do so myself, so I do apologise for this, I would help more but due to a combination of personal circumstances and my pc still acting up a bit I am unable to help as much as I would like.

Im happy with fenrirs suggestion

I also think this is a good idea, flying il2 in planesets/campaigns that differ from BoX. So that might include, mediteranian campaigns, pacific campaigns, norway campaign, baltic campaigns, civil war/early war campaigns. Lots of interesting aircraft , my personal fav is mediteranian and would get us away from focusing on bastoign missions and freshen il2 46 up. Of course this would need support from hosts.

It is important we find out the reason for the low numbers Are people getting distracted for personal reasons or just wanting a change from routine or dont like types of missions we fly? This reduction in numbers has significance for squad funding and what we can support. One further thought, if it doest effect funding then is this not really only a concern if the hosts are fed up with low numbers and dont feel it is worth their time? If hosts are happy to put up with low numbers then there should not be an issue, I dont think you will be able to get any agreement to reduce the sims we fly to concentrate numbers ,as there are too many individual preference s. I would recon that the only practical tweak is which days we fly which sim so good to have poll up on seperate thread to try to get best balance.

Bit wooly as things are changing but just now before full bodenplatte. 1 il2 2 box 1 sunday 2 tuesday ( bit irregular in attendance just now but still my preference) 3 wednesday 4 friday (sometimes) 5 cant commit to others apologies Im noy going to able to commit to tuesdays in near future so down to 2 days I can commit to regularly
-
Unfortunately we are dropping numbers of active squad members and increasing options of sims so imho we wont ever get back to large numbers flying together. As long as hosts are willing I will fly il2 and box, others dont interest me.

Yes thats what I gathered from some research, but what to do, I probably should upgrade to win 10 and upgrade graphics but then id be as well getting new pc. I was considering gaming laptop but there are issues with these so im a bit undecided on best action to take. Ill probably carry on till year end and see if there are any black friday sales and treat myself to a new rig for Christmas.
