Hi mate , its a question dear to my heart as I am also shite at calculating gunnery. I have studied it and put a collection of tips here, including ww2 RAF, Luftwaffe and USAAF docs In BOX I have my convergence at 300m and give a lot of lead, if the bandit is turning at all I am basically shooting blind under my nose. Dont chase the pipper, try to learn how many rings lead for the angle the bandit is off. Getting in close is good. The FW is very sensitive to changes in Angle of attack (or pitch) try to fly as smooth as possible and set up your attack , best practice is you shouldnt be turning in it , dive, turn no more than 20 degrees then wings level and zoom up again Hope that helps

Hi and welcome, we fly Box on Tuesday and Sunday nights . We are online around 2000 hrs UK time. Format is dogfight server for 30 mins to warm up then into co ops. We also host events, currently flying a p-38 campaign and a tank/plane event planned. We use teamspeak for communication We fly coops using all versions of the SIM and bodenplatte is almost necessary to take part. In addition there are squad members from united states and Canada and they host nights suitable for your time zone. We do not usually fly full real but allow incons etc. However you should be comfortable with engine start and management and twin prop plane control The is no ranking per se in the squad tho some senior members have a committee to help run the squad The most important is that we are a FUN friendly group that have been flying together for many years and welcome all but the most absolute idiots. There is plenty of experience, support and advice in the squad and I'm sure you would enjoy being around S Delta7

are the airfields not too close , it could be a vulch fest , please supply alternative additional airfields further away

I think tanks should be unlimited and aircaft limited depending on number of of fighters and flak density, if low like on the P-38 mission then say 3 per pilot. If higher then more. Plane type is more difficult, but I'd keep it simple put up a proposed list, let folk have a say then make a decision by throwing some chicken bones in the air and see how they land, you won't please everyone anyway 😆😆😆

Hi and welcome, as the guys have said we fly predominantly Tuesday and Sunday 1900 to 2000 GMT start for BoX but there are others in USA hosting in their time zone. Most of us have all the addons and mostly fly bodenplatte missions. You should have dual engine controls mapped to allow you to fly some missions. For X-45 I have mode 1 for engine management mode 2 flying mode 3 bombing I have made a spreadsheet here you can copy if you wish, some keystrokes are diferent from game default so you will have to ensure x-45 and game match If you want some info to study then I collected all my notes here you can pick through at your leasure If you want help on specific items then best time to meet online would be before tuesday and sunday sessions as that is when majority are available but some of the USA guys may be avaiilable at other times, just post on forum and see if someone can help.

Apologies for my lack of forethought regarding white flight. Family shift and a last minute balls-up caught me out over the last two days and I tried to cover myself by trying something I thought was clever but wasn't. I'm obviously not suited for this so Painless can nominate new white leader and I'm happy to fly any other nominated role

Flak was brutal, thought I had clear run as it was targeting someone else but on approach it locked on me and I got plastered. Managed to get home but wasn't only one hit and limped back we could have lost a few more . I think we need to target flak first as once reduced we can mop up remaining targets easier

There doesn't seem to be a great deal of interest in this, dont think there is any point if only me and ft and Kira show up, so please post here if interested, if we get 5 or more then ok but if lower then better cancelling

Thanks for highlighting this, I have always found spotting difficult in this game and need icons . Without them I regularly got the disappearing plane syndrome.

Kira has been on touch with me and we are floating the idea of flying il2 again , it would be fun to fly some of the old favourite and different theaters. So is anyone else interested? A few issues, 1) dates, squad callander is pretty busy and I know a lot fly on various nights but Saturdays are generally free so I'm proposing a week tomorrow 29th aug at 20:00 GMT as a start to see interest I'd also like a test prior to the night so looking for volunteers . We can arrange suitable time if interested. 2) iv not hosted in years so I'll need to find out how to set router etc and see what missions I have, any help e.g. idiots guide would be appreciated 3) controls layout etc , if anyone is interested then please check out controller ets to make sure everything works ok on the night Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated Dave
