No u cannot host an IP game and there are no dedicated servers nor will there ever likely be as this game is a covert scaled down pre-released money making version of Storm of War.

Is that right, this is a kind of paid beta of SoW or is that guy talking horse shit in their forums?

I really don' t have a clue, but rumours about have had me steer clear of it.

But my Dad keeps asking me, and I keep telling him to just play IL2 and wait for SOW.

Well now this post, so I'm actually looking now.

Well you buy it, and other addons from here.

No matter the language choice.

Makes me think it has nothing to do with any of the old school Flight sim makers. (has any of them changed their name recently, Short NEOQB to 777 for Rise of Flight )?

They are listed on sever forums, twitters, and such.

Ah I see it is like ROF , you want more planes you have to purchase them, not at all a Oleg mentality, at least not Historically.

After researching I I remember why I shelved the idea.

Just like Warbirds the game looks and feels too much like a long term expense.

Oleg spoiled me.

I see where Rise of Flight is coming out with an updated boxed version with all the game updates and several available a/c. I've seen a lot of good writeups about this game so I've ordered this game and hopefully will be pleased with it. Many years ago I really enjoyed Red Baron so I'll let you guys know about ROF when I get it.

I might just go for ROF, now that you can get 8 flyables with it. Birds of prey, on the other hand is a console flying game ported to PC, it has no relationship to SOW whatsoever and only the name in common with IL2. I tried the demo once.

Oh yeah I have Rise of Flight, the demo, and that's actually a lot of fun. Of course you need to pay extra for each plane that you want unlocked and that's kinda meh <_<

On the other hand I've been reading on the Wings of Prey forum and it seems the game is lacking in immersion. It does look pretty though.

The new boxed version of ROF (Iron Cross edition iirc) will have 8 flyable planes and two new historical campaigns, plus all of the updates, and no online requirement for playing offline content! I kind of feel bad for the early adopters who payed full price then had to buy the planes separately.
