DD_Brando Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I have a reasonable rig. Abit AX78, AMD 2x6000+ CPU @ 3.2 GHz with water-cooling, 2x2Gb DDR2 RAM, 730W PSU, 74Gb Raptor and an Acer x1950Pro (Radeon) graphics card cabled to a 24" DGM widescreen monitor It all runs FB "very nicely thank you" Quote
1. DDz Quorum B16Enk Posted January 31, 2009 1. DDz Quorum Posted January 31, 2009 I use dual monitors with my ATi no problem. Granted neither of my monitors are DVI connected, so I use the DVI > VGA adapter. The way it works is that you configure Display Manager to extend your desktop (not clone) to the other screen. IL2 will show on your main screen, and anything you have dragged to it will show on your second screen (including task bar ). I have not noticed any performance affect, and it is nice having a map, or TS or whatever showing on the secondary screen. So: a) Yes I believe so. None c) You can have maps/porn/TS Client/flight instruction manual showing on 2nd screen. Also for day to day stuff it can be very handy having a 2nd screen, when I work on PHP files or other coding I find it invaluable. Quote
DD_Brando Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 Thanks a lot for your speedy reply Rog - much appreciated! I now feel confident enough give it a try today See you in "two weeks"! LOL cheers B Quote
HH_RitterCuda Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 is Il2 set up for open glide or window? Quote
DD_Brando Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 After a lot of messing around I'm getting half-decent results - but there is a persistent problem that I can't shake. Maybe I'm doing the procedure wrong, I just dunno I got extended desktop working, and I can drag (e.g.) TS over to it - but when I start FB the splash screen is sliced down the middle. The right half is visible but the left is just the desktop. I can hit the windows key and minimise the game, then I can navigate the mouse around and and also onto the second monitor and back, but it goes back to this right-half of the selection screen only visible Any thoughts, anyone? Eraser Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 make sure you have both monitors set at the Same Resolution & Refresh Rate.....I have never had that issue to happen to me with mine..... Quote
gec Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 it is not importnant to have both screens at same res. i have main TFT screen on 1680x1050@60Hz and the second one CRT set to 1280x1024@80Hz here is how the settings look on my ati CP main monitor: Quote
1. DDz Quorum B16Enk Posted February 1, 2009 1. DDz Quorum Posted February 1, 2009 +1 Main screen is 1680 x 1050 @ 60Hz LCD and second is 1600 x 1200 @ 75Hz Double click the ATI Icon in the system tray, select under the View menu (if in advanced view) 'Basic View' and you get this: Select 'Extended Desktop' Quote
gec Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 i always try to be a smartass and use advanced view but doing this in basic view is definitely easier Quote
Eraser Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I stand corrected....I thought they had to be setup the same way....I never tried it using different settings on each monitor.....kewl......sorry for the wrong advice I offered.... Quote

DD_Brando Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 Thanks everyone for contributing to this request for enlightenment I've taken the day off and will resume my attempts to get the entire splash screen to initialise on my main screen on Tuesday. Tomorrow I have a friend coming who needs various work done on his 'puter, so I'll be busy on that. But, as Arnie says; "I'll be back!" B Quote
Ash Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Hey guys, I'm having very similar snags here ( http://www.dangerdogz.com/forums/index.php/topic,7689.msg64893.html ) so apologies for the thread necromancy! I've followed B16 and gec's screenies and have them identical but still get a black second screen when I fire up Il2? Quote

DD_Brando Posted July 12, 2009 Author Posted July 12, 2009 When I wrote "two weeks" earlier I guess I was being prophetic. My chum's rig is still on the desk at my four o'clock while he moves into his new flat, but I did manage to set up his monitor and reclaim my little Samsung Syncmaster. I set it up attached to my Ati x1950Pro yesterday, using the 'extended desktop' method. The 24" screen is set at 1900x1200x32 @ 60Hz, while the 15" is at 1024x768x16 @ 75Hz. The "big screen" is assigned as primary, No 1. I have dragged various items across to the secondary display that I consider useful while flying, including the Windows taskbar. The mouse cursor goes from one screen to the other, there are no issues with that. OK, on to the in-game performance. I have only had one instance of the "half screen" display that I mentioned before. It freaked me out a bit until I discovered the simple fix. Minimising the game using the Windows key seems to be the necessary action. I did that and got the minimised game onto the taskbar on the secondary monitor. (Alt+Tab doesn't work for me) Then I clicked on the minimised game and it restored to the full screen. As easy as that. In fact it seems that this arrangement has cured all my problems with minimising in & out of the game. When minimising to the primary (only) screen it would be touch and go as to restoring the game. With the taskbar moved to the secondary screen it now works every time. B Quote
