1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted October 1, 2008 1. DDz Quorum Posted October 1, 2008 Can someone put me right on how to set an airstart on a dogfight map at sea please. Also can you orinintate the direction of flight at the start? Need it for a project i am working on. Cheers Friar Quote
Blairgowrie Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Unless I am missing something Friar, I think that is very straightforward. Just select the aircraft you want in objects, left click with ctrl button to place it on the map, click the next waypoint to set direction and then set height, speed, etc in waypoints. Quote
Klinger Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 For the Sunderlands in BOB I used 'Test runway_4' which is in the 'Stationary ships' menu. I believe the planes will be oriented in the direction of the first waypoint. Whats the project m8? Quote
1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted October 1, 2008 Author 1. DDz Quorum Posted October 1, 2008 Thanks for the replies gentlemen but I feel you both missed the important fact, how to set an airstart on a dogfight map.The use of waypoints is not applicable here Quote
Blairgowrie Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Strange. I just created a dogfight map and set waypoints. Perhaps you will have to eleborate a bit more. Quote
1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted October 1, 2008 Author 1. DDz Quorum Posted October 1, 2008 For your dogfight map, did you define the home base and the plane list available to it? and if so how did you then provide waypoints for the aitcraft. I really dont know/understand how you can. Did you then fire up your map as an actual dogfight server map and was the base/choice of plane selectable ? Cheers Friar Quote
Blairgowrie Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 You didn't say anything about a home base in your original question. Not trying to be a smart ass but as Klinger said, if you could tell us what you want to do maybe we could help. Quote
1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted October 1, 2008 Author 1. DDz Quorum Posted October 1, 2008 I thought that for a dogfight map you need to define the home bases so that the players click on them when signing in, and then select one if the aircraft available to it. Is that not the case? do you just need to define the airbase colour? How then do you define the planes available to that airfield if the list is retricted. if so then i have been a numpty on this one Quote
1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted October 1, 2008 Author 1. DDz Quorum Posted October 1, 2008 Jim, the desert map you sometimes use for the dogfight session has an airstart for the northern blue base by the coast. how is that set up in the fmb please? Quote
Klinger Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Colin m8, I set the 'test runway_4' as a 'home base' and allowed only H8Ks to spawn from there. I believe you can lock the loadout, though I didn't do that for BoB. The planes spawn facing East 090 @ 2000 metres and 300kmh. I dont know of a way to change that. Quote
Blairgowrie Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 That would be the Kasserine map. It is set up the way Klinger says with Test runway 3 as a home base and aircraft added. I will send you a copy of the Kasserine mission and you can see for yourself. Kasserine.zip Quote
1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted October 1, 2008 Author 1. DDz Quorum Posted October 1, 2008 Ok, sorted. I deleted everything i had had done and started again. I put in test runway 4 and then assigned a home base to it and set up the required aircraft. i then started up a dogfight map, job done. so i dont know what i was doing wrong before. Many thanks Friar Quote
1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted October 1, 2008 Author 1. DDz Quorum Posted October 1, 2008 Found what it was I was doing wrong. I was reducing the size of the circle around the base to a size that was too small. When I leave it at the default diameter, it works. Thats one for the memory banks! LOL Cheers and thanks again. DoubleTap Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I know this is a bit late, but there is a way to create an airstart on any dogfight map EVEN THOUGH other spawn points are ground starts. Place two airstrips (start with a visible one first for orientation) perpendicular to, and directly on top, of each other so the icons line up. Pull one aside, and place the home marker on it, and enter in whatever aircraft you want on it. Quote
gec Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 same trick i used to create carrier take off's. Quote
