Some of you are probably thinking "who isthis Cold_Gambler person? And why does he think we'll miss him?"

I've decided to go to Disney Land and see if I can't sabotage a ride in advance of Jensenparks' visit.

Truth is on Saturday I just moved into a new house and everything is in boxes. Tomorrow my wife, my son and I are off to France for two weeks and when we get back it will take some time to get everything set up.

Best regards,

Angus (AKA C_G)

Thanks Roger,

the housewarming will happen shortly after we rip all the 70 year-old ungrounded electrical wiring out of the house. Ever seen the movie "The Moneypit" with Tom Hanks? I fear I have just begun the real-life version

I don't know who else is within driving distance of Toronto, other than BG- it'd be kind of neat to have a get together. :)

Grounded wires are for pussies! Leave it - its vintage stuff with all the porcelain wire nuts and other quaint bric a brack.

I think it's a conspiracy by the insurance companies and electricians... for seventy + years they've insured people with "knob and tube" wiring, and all of a sudden it's too risky?? :BangHead:

Anyhoo... I'll be signing off now- I may drop you all a line from sunny southern France-

LOL you should have seen the wiring in my place before I rewired it.

240v coursing through 1935 cabling, rubber insulation that had forgotten it's origin.

I replaced a light fitting, simple job. Had to cut a good 12" back and splice in new wire before I found some that didn't crumble when I touched it.

'Money Pit' was the film I thought of when I had that experience.

Chasing channels in brick walls to lay in new cable is an experience I'd rather not repeat, unless on a pay-roll!

Pulling cable through joists etc. is not the way to spend a weekend with three young kids.

Then plastering, talk about learning on the job. Removing load bearing walls and placing re-enforced concrete joists.....what a hoot! Dust permeating every nook and cranny in the house. Took days just to clean out the heat sinks on the PCs
