Priory Newsletter – October 2007

Seeing has I have been inundated with calls to produce a new newsletter, well, lots of people have been contacting me to write, OK then, Jensen Park has been nagging me to produce one, I thought that it was about time I put finger to keyboard.

A lot has been happening in the village since I last wrote, I am glad to report that we are still getting new members, despite the communities seemingly openness in its fondness for woollen clad creatures.

Our reputation seems to be growing in the neighbouring villages and towns and we have received several party invites.

To all those that have stumbled into the village, we bid you a warm welcome and look forward to you staying around for a while. Perhaps you will soon get to enjoy the taste of Mrs Thonlinsons Rock cakes, it does give her so much pleasure to have the new boys getting their hands on her buns.

Notices

We have the decorators in the Village Hall again, it does seem to come round quite soon does it not?, just when we are getting used to the colour (correctly spelt, you notice) they come in and give us a makeover, although one would have to say, it does get better with each re-vamp.

So if you happen to come over to the hall, please be careful where you sit, that nice looking bench may have only just been painted. Also some of the direction signs are wrong at the moment also, so please be careful where you go. We do not want to repeat of that incident where one of the new villages whilst looking for the Ladies knitting circle ended up attending the Wool Fetish and Sheep Worriers Anonymous meeting.

The Village Council has received complaints from residents about the continual noise coming from the house on the hill owned by Lord and Lady Blairgowrie. It seems that it is being turned into some theme park for construction vehicles with diggers being a specially. Strangely, the number of complaints and follow-up letters seems to be changing disproportionately, the fewer letters I receive, the more holes seem to be dug.

I would like to congratulate the under 11 softball team for their fine performance in the recent match against Big Franks side, losing 3-1, although from reports 2-2 would have been a fairer result. It seems that one or two of our star players could not make it due to last minute appointments at the hairdressers, cake shop and having to visit Great Aunt Maude in New Jersey. Still perhaps we can have a word with Mummy for next time.

The inter-village soccer match played a while back now also proved to be very popular. Congratulations to the Blue team who, on all accounts played magnificently and stopped the Red side getting anywhere near their goal. I am pleased to say that I had a small part to play in that match, although the incident with the novelty balloons was purely an accident.

Just recently, some of you may have noticed that I have undergone a minor change, no, I am not now one of the Sisters, I have decided to correct a long standing error. It goes quite a way back to a deal that I had with a local printers. He did me some business cards on the cheap. It was the back end of a run he had done for another company and had some cards left over and offered me a good deal. Well, the up shot of it was that in his rush to get them done on the QT before his boss found out and working under cover of semi darkness, he managed to make a spolling mistoke on the card. I knew my copy was correct I checked it very carefully , just like this newsletter, he managed to replace the “aâ€

Slightly off the wall but ain't we all.

Relatively speaking of course.

By many peoples' standards we are off the wall and in an orbit around a red planet.

Pretty normal really.
