raven Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Hi, I'm new here, and recently got into IL2 1946, after 25 years, remembering how my dad got me into flying sims. It's been a blast. I came by udspeed: http://simhq.net/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2011230/all/New_UDPSpeed_Display_working_c.html I remember wanting something like that since forever! Thing is, nowadays in my machine (Steam deck & Linux), it doesn't print the gauges nicely, because of ddraw. Yet turns out there's a newer implementation for IL-2 BoX: https://dellywelly.itch.io/il-2-dials-client-windows The developer is symphatetic to add IL-2 1946 support, and we have the protocol docs shipped with the game in Devicelink.txt. It should be doable :). But maybe there's undocumented features, or mismatches with the protocol docs. The original developer seems to be OverDhill, based in this forum. http://dangerdogz.com/forums/profile/993-overdhill/ I see that he has been inactive, and I hope for the best for him. Tried to DM him, but I get a popup with "You are only allowed to send 0 messages per day. Please try again later". Does anybody know how to contact him? Could someone contact him, and ask him about his opinion on implementing udpspeed? Does udpspeed have many undocumented workarounds on the protocol? OverDhill, if you are reading this, would you be open in releasing the source code of udpspeed? It would greatly help on this efforts. Many thanks in advance! Raven Quote
1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted September 6, 2023 1. DDz Quorum Posted September 6, 2023 @raven - We have not played 1946 for quite some time now. We now focus on IL2: Great Battles series and DCS. I know nothing of the application of which you are asking but there is a new andriod compatible app that can show the dials etc but I am not sure if that is just for GBS. Quote
1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted September 6, 2023 1. DDz Quorum Posted September 6, 2023 Me thinks OverDhill was a user of updspeed, and he's designed/created setups for specific 1946 cockpits on some devices. He was not involved in creating updspeed. From the first link you posted: "(,,)UDPSpeed is a program written by Hruks and Alezz (...) Just my 2C. Good luck! Quote
1. DDz Quorum Sid Posted September 6, 2023 1. DDz Quorum Posted September 6, 2023 Have a look at this https://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Knowledge_Base&file=print&kid=377&page=1 It seems to refer to IL2 FB (Forgotten Battles) which I know as the for runner of 1946 Might be the same information you first put up but from a different website, sorry Quote
