  8. Thanks for the help B16Enk,I appreciate it. @ Blairgowrie, I ran many modles of Husky's during my career,15 years straight I believe.I switched to Stihl saws for 6 years, and now back to Husky's for the last 2 years and counting. I switched my name from StihlCanuck to Bucky because my co-workers call me Bucky due to my expertise as a "Buckerman" which is a position on a logging crew. But more importantly,I did it for the squad.Simply because it's easier and faster to say....Lookout Bucky!,or Check your six Bucky! or Uh oh...Bucky's dead...again. Yeah,it's all for the team...sheesh

  15. Here's a few more pics taken from the night of Aug.16 from my parent's house as the fire comes over the crest of the hill... As of today the fire is 70% contained.the American crews have returned home. There are still about 60 homes on evac alert.230 fire fighters are still on the lines. It would appear that the worst is over now.

  18. Good stuff Jim.Way to have other people do the work...hmmm thought your husky would be bigger.
  19. Ok, Currently there are 250 firefighters on this fire.Several crews are from Ontario and from Washington State. The first crews to arrive were native Indians from northern B.C. There are 16 homes on evac alert. At 9:00pm aug.16,I sat on my parent's front lawn and watched the fire crest the top of the moutain and make it's way towards the town. They live in a small community called Fruitvale,15 min S.E of my town of Trail. So far this fire is not contained but the big blow up is overand it has settled down somewhat. Extremely smoky around here now,as well as very tense.......All for now.
  20. The fire has exploded out of control!! On Thurs Aug 16 hot temps and high winds caused the fire to double in size from 800 hecs to almost 1700 hecs!It
  21. Well here's an update on the fire. It was started by a lightning strike last Fri.As of today,Thurs.Aug.17,It has grown to over 800 hectares...1 hect.=2.8 acres... It has crossed the U.S.border now so the yanks are involved as well.I have done some logging over the years in this area and I am told the fire has burned through 2 old clearcut blocks that I worked on back in 1993.These blocks were replanted in '94 so some of the new trees have been lost. Also a real nice stand of Douglas Fir...28inches + on the butt...has been lost. There are currently 5 helicopters,6 waterbombers,2 rapid attack fire crews and 3 heavy peices of equipment working on the fire.My father is working on it as well.He has been building a fire guard with A D6 Cat,which is owned by the local lumber mill. If possible,I will try to get pics of the actual fire, etc. As a certified logger with a fire fighting ticket,I should be able to have reasonable access as an observer...conditions permitting of course. It is quite smoky around here now,the fire is about 1 hour's drive S.E.from my town.
