  1. Not a bad mission 485th. Well done white flight for your brace of air kills. Bloody shame 2nd Lt Key Moe got bounced on the way to our patrol area, at least he can rest knowing revenge was swift and complete. A replacement is in the pipe line. A fair haul of ground targets meant that red flight didn’t waste their aviation fuel. We will be practicing accuracy on staffing runs and general wingmanship over the next couple of days to improve our efficiency 😉 EDIT... Would be interesting to know exactly what happened when Kimo got bounced as he was Red 4 and it was White flight who dropped their bombs and engaged the enemy some distance behind Red flight. Can anyone shed some light on that one ?
  2. Yes, our individual morning routines are essential to a steadfast performance on the day whether it be coffee, tea, full English and/or a quick rub down with the Radio Times.
  3. 485th : Bloody shame we were the first Sqn to fall foul of this new Gerry ploy to cover an airfield in dispersed trucks instead of aircraft and set up devastating AAA. Two aircraft damaged and two lost ! Not good. We did well on our primary objective and needless to say we would have been better off heading home after that. Trouble is you chaps want to destroy targets so it’s hard to just ignore them. In future we will have a dam good look at exactly how high the value of any target is before risking airframes and pilots. Talking of which we have heard that 2nd Lt Sidney Gittins and 1st Lt John Artiesbi are making life hell for some poor unfortunate Stalag Luft Commandant who I am sure will end up out of pocket and out of luck ! Replacements are inbound. Well done to 2nd Lt David Reginald and 2nd Lt Denis Richard for landing their damaged aircraft at a friendly airfield.
  4. If a fifteen minute max delay would help you out then ask Fenrir for special dispensation Tbone. Maybe offer to buy his first 6 pints at Flying Legends next year ? 😉
  5. I would be up for a recce if we have a bit of decent weather for the drive 😉 A badge ! Oo yes I would love another one to go with my 25 yards backstroke badge.
  6. Only use the fixed gunsight here Tbone. Used to have convergence set to 200m or yards in 46 but found that due to the AI in IL2 GB having a propensity for constant hard flat turning more lead was required to hit a target below your nose. Just moved my convergence out to 250m and found an improvement all round. Considering moving out further to 300m to see how it goes, I know Sid has gone to 300m and likes the results. Apart from that I just rely on the Mk1 eyeball 👍🏻
  7. Fingers crossed it can all go ahead ! 🤞🏻
  8. Congratulations 402nd ! You guys fly much better than your looks would suggest ! 👍🏻😘 Well flown once again 485th, considering our mission was air to air we proved to be versatile when needed. Sorry to Kimo for stealing all his AAA kills 🤭 2nd Lt Tom Petty’s mission report may well have read something like this.... I was “Learning to Fly” climbing to “A Higher Place” when I saw AAA telling me ”Don’t Come Round Here No More”. Was thinking of my “American Girl” and decided that “I Won’t Back Down”. “Even The Losers” get lucky from time to time and my plane was damaged so it was “Time to Move On”. I was “Crawling Back to You” thinking “Don’t Fade on Me” , I knew I had to “Handle With Care” but “The Waiting” was too much. “I Need to Know” if my gear and flaps still work, “You Don’t Know How it Feels” when they do not ! Found myself “Free Fallin’ “ ...........
  9. Mainly T34 casserole with a garni of Shturmovik please.
  10. @ Arthur : really good fun but had trouble getting the range right in a T34 76.
  11. Good show 485th. The B25 boys were glad of the company on the way to target they tell me. Congratulations to 2nd Lt. John Artiesbi for bagging two of the hapless Ju52 aircraft and one homeless Bronze Star ! Shame we didn’t bump into any enemy fighters but at least we shot the hell out of some advancing enemy trees. There will be a brief lecture on landing separation and coms..................Thursday 18.45 hrs in the “PantsTown” bar.
  12. “oh and my other hobby, definitely not underwater blow football. lol have a look at my instagram. you can see some of my photoshop work in action. https://www.instagram.com/tonyfoot/ try to behave on there! “ Bloody hell !! 👍🏻😳
  13. Tbone: After a lengthy meeting examining psychological profiles and predicted behaviours it was deemed necessary to split you and Crash up for the good of the war effort, hope you understand old chap. If not blame Fen. 🤣
  14. You did bloody well for someone who hasn’t flown in a group for an age Tbone ! Being such a nice bloke may stunt your progress though ? Maybe work on being more of a “git” ? 👍🏻😉
  15. Instrument hire..... yes that’s it 🤫
  16. Yes I saw it all Sidly ! As Tom has said (and demonstrated) before, a P38 flown with energy conservation in mind, the correct use of combat flaps and turning to your advantage only against specific types can produce some good results. As always it is down to 80% knowledge/ skill and 20% luck ( good or bad) in a fur ball situation IMHO.
