  7. Hi guys, sorry i have not been around much but my new job is keeping me busy and I have not got into a routine that gives me flying time yet. My daughter has come home with some maths homework that i dont know how to do...... Its quite simple (if you know how)..all we have to do is find the tan, cos and sin of some angles in degrees. I remeber "silly old harry can always have tow of anything" silly old harry :sin=opposite over hypotenues can always have: cosine=adjcent over hypotenuse etc.. i have found a web site that does the conversion for us but i want her to know how to do it on a scientific calculator if we have 7degrees, the converter gave us tan: 0.1228, cos: 0.9925 and sin: 0.1218 but what do we put into the calculator if i enter "tan(7)" i get 0.87144, so i gues thats not all there is to it? any pointers or clues welcome calculator is a casio fx-85ES (i have looked at the manual but could not find anything) Cheers guys Friar

  10. Hi Trib. I would go for Gatwick. the train into Victoria is a good connection (it goes through East Croydon, which is my station) You can book a ticket, just so you know you have it and therefore dont have to mess about on the day, I dont think you can book seats though, its just a ticket. Could you give me the dates of your vist, i am away on some training during the last two weeks of april but perhaps I could pop into london to meet for a pint over the weekend?
  11. Ah yes.....I remember the night we had the party in there that led to it ending up in the state it is today. Those Sisters can get pretty rowdie once they have had a few drinks.....

    Sound Issue

Ok, so round 2 of a problem which i can see building to the complexity of Jabo's frame rate issues.... 1. Feedback now seems to have gone. 2. Game sound Ok. 3. Microphone works and records (although as an asside i found that if you have more than 2gb of memory windows sound recorder will record but when it comes to saving, says "not enough memory". This is a known bug!) 4. Streamed video from a cinema web site worked the first time after booting up, the second time I tried to watch a trailer, I get the crackle and pulsing back. 5. There is little or no sound from VLC media player when trying to watch a DVD. Pule and crackle still evident. 6. Windows "bings", "bongs" and "chimes" are also fine. This crackle sound problem was evident before I changed the cd-rom for a dvd drive. Something must have gone wrong with my system previously. Virus and spyware checks upto date. Any "sound" experts wanna have a go a cracking this one? I am offering the services of Sister Rebbeca from the Priory for the person that nails it! Cheers Friar

    Sound Issue

Ok, thanks Roger, That seems to have sorted it, however, after testing a dvd and playing 2 tracks of a cd, then re-starting the cd, i now have the crackle and pulse back...grrrrr.....got to go out shortly so will try otherthings later. thanks for help anyway, as allways, its very welcome, Cheers Friar

    Sound Issue

Having now seemingly sorted the crackle and pulse on the video sound (by re-installing the Audigy2 software) I now have another problem. I can not turn the volume up to any decent partner annoying level before I get a sound not dissimilar to a finger being pushed around the top of a crystal wine glass (go on, you have all done it to impress the kids!). Not good on the ears. I have not moved speakers from previous positions. Any suggestions as to where to look? Cheers Friar
  19. no, clock settings are fine. so i guess not. its all sorted now so guess thread closed.......for now!
  20. OK, d/l it. it is giving me a problem on sound. i have mentioned it before and managed to get rid of it, but cant remember how ! i am getting a crackle, pulsating noice. on the dxdiag test for sound it is fine up to step 20 mono 8 bit 22khz, then it starts music in dxdiag is fine, windows sounds are fine. ts was fine during a quick test. i have had the same problem when i tried to look at a movie trailer from the vue cinema web site using windows media player so it is not unique to vcl yours baffled friar
  21. would that then replace windows media player (which I forgot to state I am trying to use)
  22. yep, but dont worry, got it sorted. found some info on the net. unplugged it, went to the c:/windows/temp/saitek folder ran setup.exe asked me to plug device in completed setup profile now works
  23. So Guru's tell me this cos I'm dazed and confused.... In replaceing my cd-ro for a dvd drive (see other thread) I had to get the machine up on the bench (well dinning room table). I powered down, removed the power cable and pressed the power button to discharge any remaining juice, then removed all usb's and netowrk cables. So the machine is now dead. I work on it and every thing is fine. I replace the drive, plug back in all the cables and switch it back on.....now why the feck does the machine think the x52 is a new device, and as a result wont load the profiles? any offers ? Cheers Friar
  24. Well the drive went in easily enough. It seems to be working ok as i can browse content. I tried to play a dvd but got the error message that i need a compatable dvd decoder. do i have to purchase it or is there another option?
  25. Talking of classics and DT, did I ever tell everyone about the time when I pulled off this wondershot on DT...Well it went something like this.......I was in a 190 and I saw this plane try to duck down and go under my nose. ...........you remember it?
