  1. humor me please...., go into one of the profiles, select the general tab and try and type in a description for the profile. try typing a word with an "a" or "e" i just have and the "a" and "e" does'nt work, and then does not work in microsoft word. re-boot, go back into word and they work again. wierd or what...or is it just me?
  2. my only reservation with limited icons is that did it not get brouhgt up when we had that really busy sunday night and a consensus of opions felt that a lower graphics setting would help the lag and stutters, well, is that not going to make plane id difficult?
  3. im good to go...looking forward to it as always S!
  4. actually, this wednesday would be good for me as i am still on holiday and would not have to go to work the next day!
  5. i had a really great time on friday. although it was a long day for, i'm glad i stayed till the end. well done glen again. on the subject of a re-run. i'm all for it, i'd stay blue. as to the timings, a friday or saturday would be better for me (and i would also think the other uk guys) as when we finish it is getting on for 1:00am and i could not really do that on a work day.
  6. yes, but at home i dont have a free bar, a swimming pool or (hopefully) a warm sea to take a dip in! I hope to be able to join in with Glenn's big mission on the 4th. I'll go blue so keep me in on the updates please.
  7. A previously unknown cut scene from the Disney classic "Mary Poppins" has just been discovered. It was cut from the original motion picture as it thought that some of the language used was not suitable for the target audience. Scene 4 - "It 'aint fair Mary Poppins" Bert and Mary sitting on a smokey roof top. Bert's face slightly smudged with soot. Bert: It 'aint bleedin fair Mary Poppins Mary: Why Bert whats wrong? Bert: I goes and gets rid of me second joystick, a lov'ly fing she waz, and then spend flippin' ages sorting out the key mappings so's I gets it just right. Then I goes and buys trackir, again I spends me time getting it jusssst right, me wife finks me piles are back i waz fidgitin' about on me chair so much. Mary: Wipes small tear from Bert's eye, smuding the soot even more. Bert: Then I have a touch of luck and land me self a 5 speaker surround sound system and gets a beautiful noise from me 109 cannons..(gazes up to sky with whistful look)....and now I'm off on soddin hollyday, it aint fair Mary Poppins. Enter stage left group of dancers for song and dance routine.
  8. having praised dell on their prompt service, i thought it only fair to let everone know that they they are so good, they have sent another set of speakers out. we have phoned them and tried to get them to take them back. fine they said, send them back, not likly we said, you come and fetch them we said. cant do that they said, so keep them they said!
  9. yes, i used a standard 3 pin uk plug and wired the live and neutral.
  10. who has'nt posted here yet?, who face is ready to launch a thousand quips....is it you?
  11. a chap i help out has just got a new dell computer. he ordered surround sound as an extra. the computer arrived fine but they sent him a european plug version of the sound system. he was getting nowhere with dell so i called them on his behalf. to their credit dell sent out a complete uk sound system to me no probllem and did not want the wrong one back. i installed it for him last night. i then took the euro one off his hands for him, cut off the plug, re wired it and now i have surround sound !!!!!!! ....unless someone with electrical knowledege is going to tell me that i have done something wrong?
  12. saw it on youtube.com when looking for il2 videos. i thought it had a good story and used some very clever editing (e.g men running TOWARDS their planes to scramble (they must of bailed out from a plane out of shot, and the scene ended before they dived, clever eh?) the music that went with it was good as well.
  13. its the studying of these books, it is affecting my eye sight. I read them for the Nun's Editorials on Page 3
  14. i shoul have said this in my previous post, but i must have had my head burried in my scriptures, what film are we taliking about?

    anti virus

being involved with IT as a job i probably should not be asking this question but, ever trying to ring the last bit of performance out of my machine, here goes....... Once connected to the internet and having started teamspeak, could i turn off the antivrus software to free up memory and resourses as i am connecting to a host direct via the ip address?
  17. i think the max that my dell supports is 1gb dimension 4500
  18. no mine seems ok, although i am getting the game return to desktop sometimes. alt-tab show the process still running and i have been able to get it back up a couple of times. i am thinking of upgrading the power supply (note to self-contact quazi) also i only have 768mb of memory. 512+256 i also think that i made need to put a matched pair of 512 in.

    Wed Night

i am hoping to fly tonight (any one hosting?) i will set in il2 setup my connection to 56k. do i need to adjust the [net] setting in the conf file also? iirc in one one daves postings from sparks isdn had a net setting of 8000 what is the setting for 56k or does il2setup take care of it?
  21. i did think about tim, i only say MAY as that will be my next major course of action if i keep crashing to desktop. i did set up a full 16 plane mission off line the other day and it was fine. i shall have to see over the next few days what happens. i have removed 1 of the joysticks now also.
  22. i go to the post office to get a health form called an e111 and ask for it as a He111
  23. it MAY be the case that i will have to upgrade my power supply. i have a dell dimension. has any one done it before?, should it be easy to to?, is it even possible? the machine will be 4 years old in september. any pointers / advise welcome (all except throw it away and get a new one, that is not an option at the moment)
