  1. Sounds like a good umm... read.
  2. Possible problem. I have the wind set to top out at 1000m but it seems to be active to 1500. Twice now I've had a system lockup as I'm diving on an enemy approaching 1500. I don't know if it's related to the wind mod or the UP2.0N patch. It's also buggy on takeoff. I've had it weathercock into the wind and then be sliding backwards across the runway, brakes fully on. Throttle will hold it. I think wind speed is measured in meters/sec. 10m/s= 36km/hr, that's a lot of wind, probably beyond the crosswind capability of most A/C in the game.

    Wind mod

An upcoming SEOW will incorporate variable winds. I read a bit on this wind mod and it's pretty easy to set up for any flight. You can point it to an entire folder. You can have a simple setup with constant wind or change all the parameters for variable conditions. You can even set it up differently for every weather condition (good, poor, rain etc.) Go into your Ultr@PackDocs folder inside the IL2 folder.(open up the ZloyPetrushkO_WindConfig&Atmosphere_Mods.txt while you're there) Look for a folder (at the top?) called WeatherSet and open Weatherset.exe inside. There you can set up all that stuff.
  4. LCDs are sensitive to various cleaning products, including ammonia. So I wouldn't use an all-purpose glass cleaner like Windex. You can find LCD cleaning kits in stores. This is the more expensive way to go. On the other hand, they don't require you to mix stuff. Distilled water is OK for removing dust. It may not be satisfactory for greasier problems, like fingerprints. But, if it's doing the job, it's probably the safest thing you can use. You don't want to use tap water. It's got dissolved minerals and salts in it. They will most likely result in smears. Hard-to-remove stuff is a danger with water. We have a tendency to bear down when faced with stuck-on substances. Pressing an LCD screen is not a good idea. You can fry the pixels. I'd rather have a dirty screen than a bunch of burned-out pixels. If you need something more powerful than water, try white vinegar. Mix it 50-50 with distilled water in something like an empty Windex bottle. Some people recommend 72 percent isopropyl alcohol. Others think that's not a good idea. So, I'd turn to vinegar first. If you use alcohol, make sure it's the 72 percent isopropyl variety. Other mixes might cause damage. Again, mix it 50-50 with distilled water. Isopropyl alcohol is not good for your innards. Or, your outtards. Use it in a well-ventilated area. Keep it away from flames. Don't drink it, for heaven's sake! And wear gloves. The cloth you use is also important. It needs to be soft, soft, soft. Most experts recommend microfiber cloth. You should be able to find it in stores. If not, there's a ton available online. I wouldn't reuse microfiber cloths. LCD screens are easily scratched. So, I'd discard the cloth after use. Don't use paper towels. They can harbor bits of wood. And those bits could lead to scratches. When you wipe the LCD, do not spray liquid on it. The liquid could run between the frame and the screen. There are electrical connections in there, and liquid could short them. Instead, spray the liquid on the cloth. Don't get the cloth sopping wet. Again, putting too much liquid on the screen is dangerous. It'll run all over the place. Just moisten the cloth. http://www.komando.com/tips/index.aspx?id=7422&page=2
  5. I feel like I'm missing something if I don't get at least one flight in every day. Even if it's just one flight in an offline campaign.
  6. My garden shed/dog house has no internet.
  7. HHI TiME Lab showcases monster 180-degrees high-res display with a panoramic 3.35 by 12 meters, 180-degrees high resolution display with outstanding image and sound quality. http://www.gizmag.com/hhi-time-lab-panoramic-screen/14304/
  8. This will be big. I heard some guy on the radio talking about it. Remember the good old days when SNL was funny?
  9. You do want to be careful what you shut down via msconfig. Do not use "msconfig" to disable services, type "services.msc" in the Run box instead. http://www.blackviper.com/AskBV/Win7_01.htm You should be able to schedule it to scan at another time at least. You might try Safe Mode and search/delete any files or registry entries with that program. Look here if all else fails http://www.blackviper.com/
  10. Strangely enough as soon as I present evidence that BG is in fact a Super Villain the forums crash, the data base is corrupted and my post heads for the giant bit-bucket in the sky. I won't give up till the truth is out!!!! There are just too many coincidences.
  11. If you haven't been that good there's one from a Tornado for 2500
  12. The prosecution rests.
  13. I don't feel so bad about some of my carrier landings now.
  14. Mine still works. Once uploaded to your album hit "share" and the "get link code". I think there's an HTML option there somewhere.
  15. AHHH thank you BA. I was trying to remember the Goldberg competition. I love the automated dart firing machine.
  16. Wow!!! I'm sure I read ZA was not compatible with Win7 64 so I never installed it. Using the free AVG one.
  17. I use a function key for activation. And I'm too cheap to pay for the full version of FRAPS so I only have the .bmp option for screenshots but I use an image edit program (IrFanView) that does a batch conversion on multiple images. It will convert hundreds of images from bmp to jpeg in seconds and you can adjust other settings at the same time. I just checked, the screens are 3/4 of a second apart. I could shorten that a bit. All the screens on that night mission were black but when I converted the batch I adjusted gamma and brightness settings at the same time.
  18. I looked at that a few times. I like it. I may just steal "the big cheese" for a nose art.
  19. You do have to have FRAPS running in the background but the screens aren't the framerate killer that video is. You don't notice it running. When I tried a video even at low settings my rate dropped to 40 fps. You can see the counter in the screens never drops below 60, vsync is on. Probably handy as a gunnery training aid, check back to see if those high deflection shots are hitting.
  20. I've been playing with gun camera footage. In instances where you can't record a track like SEOW I found an acceptable method that doesn't hurt gameplay. I made a macro in the saitek profile program to take 5 FRAPS screenshots every 1/2 second whenever I pull the trigger. String them together into a slideshow that only shows the really juicy bits of the combat. Quality is poor, still playing with settings. At the end it may show other vids. Indyyeti is my account there. I saved another from a SEOW night mission but it was banned from SEOW as in "recording a track" Still fighting that. The macro feature is very handy for other things like raising the gear manually, or getting it down in a hurry. A single keypress instead of flogging one key 50 times.
  21. For me, form follows function. It's pretty hard to beat Burt Rutan's series of aircraft. Nothing he's ever designed was constrained by convention, only physics. http://images.google.ca/images?hl=en&source=hp&q=rutan%20aircraft&oq=rutan&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi
  22. Because humans learn in two ways: 1. Continuous repetition and reinforcement 2. A traumatic emotional event I think this qualifies for #2
  23. Maybe that windows update was a bad thing. After a reboot just before a SEOW mission I find all my binds in my profile gone. Binding stuff again and it won't save them. Re-installing software and drivers ............ grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
