    Welcome Ghost

~S~ Ghost! Welcome, m8! Just keep a bucket of prop wash ( or suitable substitute, @ 40 proof) and a left-handed monkey wrench near you and you'll get along fine with this lot. Looking forward to some of your reminiscences.
  2. Thanks, Toad! Good food for thought and lots to look at. My rig is a Dell 650 workstation so I can't swap out the mobo, stuck with AGP. ~S~, m8!

  4. ~S~ All! Anyone have an AGP vid card to sell/trade for merchandise of a valuable nature?

  10. ~S~ Snacko. Not copied from another computer. I checked IL-2Set-up and everything is fine. Thanks for your suggestions, m8!

  12. ~S~ Both before and after running CheckMods and fixing issues, I get this when trying to load a 4.091bm version of the sim: Each attempt to start gives a small variation of the instruction and location names but the error message is the same---The memory could not be "read". I was shifting some Mods from my 352nd Mods folder to AAA folder, starting the sim each time after shifting a couple to find which was causing a crash at 70% loading. This installation loads fine with no mods. My other pure AAA CRT=2 compliant installation starts fine so I'm not totally without a version to fly (whew!). Google finds no match for such message. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Strider

  14. Thanks, m8! I needed that!
  15. Most excellent---I lol'd!
  16. That was good luck, not good management---pilot brain-on-drain if he was sticking to a planned shot instead of watching his airspeed and turning right to stay on the water until he was at a safe v2---one of those on-the-spot judgment calls that training should have ground into his "No refly here" mentality.
  17. Was there a power outage while you were away for that time? When that occurs to me, my monitor stays black until I turn it off, unplug it, plug it back in and turn it on again. Seems it resets something internally with the unplug/plug in routine. Strange about the u/s USB's. Did you check the host controllers in Control Panel--->Hardware---> Device Manager?
  18. ~S~ Rico I made that suggestion a couple of years ago. My friend doesn't have much contact with her brother, probably because he is a tool. He doesn't have a computer himself. The subject has become somewhat touchy so I'll figure out a diplomatic way to raise it again. Certainly, important history by a participant should be preserved.
  19. Thanks, m8! Beautiful style and colouration.
  20. A lady friend of mine who was born and raised in Ireland tells me that her Dad flew Spits in BoB. (Still trying to get her brother in Ireland to give up his father's log book for a peek but he is most resistant for some reason). At any rate, she knows my addiction to IL2 and that historical period. She found this brochure somewhere and passed it along. The strangely smooth paper is so thin that the print on the obverse is plainly visible. A curtain 65" wide and 5 Yards long---only BG's mansion could handle this! Pages 2 & 3 (note the aircraft types in the center column-Defiants?): Front and back: Hope someone finds it of interest. Strider
  21. Awesome, m8! Thanks for sharing!
  22. World's Youngest Grampa: Bad Aim! Congrats to all, m8!
  23. ~S~ Welcome to the kennel, m8. Do I remember you from Joint Ops? Looking forward to flying with you.
  24. Thanks for the suggestions, guys! Tried them all without a fix. The problem as per the blue screen of news you don't want to hear was that the video driver was in an infinite loop and Windoz shut down to prevent damage to the computer. The puzzling part was the random occurence frequency---I could sometimes play for @ 3 hours without a hitch and sometimes only about 5 minutes---it once did it as soon as the loading screen appeared. After playing for a couple of intense hours the other night, it crashed but on reboot, the graphics was like a bad acid trip---couldn't get beyond 640x480 res and 4 bit colour. AHA! A new vid card (a story unto itself for an AGP motherboard) has it back to smooth operation, albeit lower settings due to a less capable card. Just thought I'd let you know.
