  1. Wow!!!!! DCS can't get this soon enough.
  2. The mobo quoted by NewEgg is an SLI board but i wouldn't really bother too much about that. I'm with Jabo; go for the best single card you can afford. Kingston memory will be fine. Oh yeah; avoid anything that touts itself as "military grade". The reality is contractors have a habit of selling the military any old shit 'cause they mostly get away with it!
  3. You know you worth it Crash!
  4. I think the ram slot thing might be a genuine concern. When you open the box on your new graphics card I think you'll be surprised at the size of the thing. They got biggggg! There is certainly a possibility you might not be able to use all your memory slots under certain configurations as the card might now allow it - just ask Crash! Edit; on my board the size of the card means I have to be careful where I mount the HD's.
  5. 2 x 4gigs of decent ram will see you fine Kira. 4gigs will not really be enough on its own as Windows will be using 2gigs merely to run. I would have thought replacing your CRT screen with something thin, flat and modern would gain you the biggest power saving overall and the size and resolution of this monitor should govern your choice of graphics card too. The 960 is Nvidia's latest mid range card and in combination with a new CPU will have no problem running all current flight sims at max everything. You could put the savings you make over a 770 towards something like this; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236175
  6. Here you go Kira; CPU : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117369&cm_re=i7_4790k-_-19-117-369-_-Product Mobo : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128714&cm_re=gigabyte_ga-z97x-sli-_-13-128-714-_-Product Ram : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220909 GPU : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487092 PSU : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371066 DVD : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151269 OS : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832416806 Edit; oh yeah, an HD! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840 Now up to $967 all in.
  7. A quick glide through Newegg with specs as an i74790k @4ghz on a Gigabyte mobo with 8gig of ram, an EVGA 960 graphics card, Antec 750w power supply and DVD drive came to $835 plus the cost of Windows7 64bit. That's £542 or euro733. That's pretty good.
  8. Kira, just to be certain; none of your old stuff is going to work with a new board. Your RAM is DDR2 - a new board will only accept DDR3. your cpu cooling fan will not work with a new cpu but that's not a problem as if you buy a new cpu it will come with a fan. The only thing you'll be able to reuse is your monitor and box. I suspect you'll be needing a new key board and mouse too. If you build it yourself it will work out cheaper and be to a higher spec than any Dell.
  9. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/14556-developer-diary-part-88-discussion/#entry231289 Wow! Game on. Of course, being a cynical old bastard this just seems to me another indication of where the cash is coming from to fund this stuff.
  10. Hello SkyPup, yeah I'd recommend BoS. I think its great. Looks fantastic and runs really nicely on my not so state of the art pc. It is still a work in progress but its got plenty of really good things going for it and now seems to have a firm future. We know an a.i. JU-52 is about to be released into the game along with a new - snowy - map and they're working on a Macci 202 also. FME and DServer will be released in the next couple of months and autumn and summer maps of Stalingrad are planned for release later this year too. Jason also keeps mentioning that they are "preparing to announce our next product". Not completely sure what this means. As a professional pilot I think you'll find the flight model 'interesting' but having RoF you'll find it familiar too. Oh yeah, skinning templates have now been released. However, there is for me one slight fly in the ointment. After the most recent update to RoF you now get a welcome screen that reads something like; "brought to you by 777Studios, 1CGS and the Russian Military Historical Society" This makes me extremely uncomfortable. The Russian Military Historical Society sounds like a group of old buffers who like to stroll over old battlefields don't it? Uh uh. It's chairman is the Russian minister of culture. A member of Putin's cabinet. Putin was guest of honour at its first meeting last year and gave a lecture! I think, though I can't say for certain, they are putting money into 1CGS - who produce BoS - for the purpose of encouraging "patriotic" interest in Russia's history. It's part of Putin's drive for Strong Russia - a nationalist, expansionist and dangerous vision of the future. Its feeding a hot war in the Ukraine as I type this. Not keen.
  11. Another quick runaround on the Syndicate server - dreaming of P-51B's
  12. What FT said.
  13. Sorry, No! I am done. Three cars are still on their way, and that's it! No more! Stop! C'mon FT, you know you want to. Just two more little 'uns and you could have.........................................................................................
  14. I think I can see where this is going. You'll be needing a green Mustang Fastback and a black Dodge Charger me thinks
  15. May I refer you to posts two and forty-two in this thread?
  16. Are there lots of big American motors in the Netherlands, FT? Shouldn't you have a few more 2CV's?
  17. Wow!!!! At last a good reason to get a freakin' phone
  18. Flew on the Syndicate BoS server late last night. Found myself materialising into the middle of an organised squad joining the server. This lot http://www.312raf.com/odkazy-kontakt. It was all very familiar....all very....DangerDogz, lol
  19. Does the Ferrari have something to do with either Steve McQueen or Ferris Bueller and his day off? As to the other; is that the er....Plymouth whateveritwas from Stephen King's novel "Christine" OR is the burgundy pick up the same model Rutger Hauer drove in "The Hitcher"?
  20. Yes, it's a bit of a franken cockpit effort and is merely made to help with FM testing but someone, somewhere, is flying a Beaufighter in CoD
  21. As this was filmed in Super8 there is no original sound. Therefore, apologies for the god-awful "musical" accompaniment.
  22. Hopefully, it's going to look something like this;
  23. You have a 'G' drive? Sounds like a job for Jabo.............. Edit...er, would it be possible to move either Steam to G or Cliffs to C? Whatever you do I think the game and Steam should be on the same path, as CLoD online needs Steam to be running. If memory servers me correctly, doesn't Steam retain your settings anyway? If not, well good thing you've still got the SoftClub stuff in my documents.
