OMG! I was twenty when this happened. In fact I've posted this before. This was the last landing he made in the FAA, even though I would have thought it a pretty good one. His remarks to the cameras scuppered his career - even though the british taxpayer had spent around £2 million on his training - he never flew again. Edit; Oh! I was wrong. He did go on to have a career in the FAA.

Wifey and I are considering christmas presents for the kids. My eldest likes his F1 game on his XBox and I was wondering about getting him a steering wheel, pedals, etc. I have no idea about this sort of gear. Force feedback would be nice along with a gear stick option if possible. I've got a budget of around £100. Any recommendations?

Once upon a time I did quite a fair few air miles in Her Majesty's VC10's and the one thing thats all ways struck me - compared to our modern holiday jets - is how smooth and quiet they are.

Trim on a slider Comrade Crashski? Nyet. As fruitbat says; you can assign the horizontal stabilizer control on the '109 to an axis because the real thing was operated by a control wheel. The same thing on the '190 was electrically controlled by buttons so.....you have to do it wiv' buttons. I think the only other things you can put on an axis are oil and water radiator controls and prop. pitch. Not prop. pitch for the '109 or 190 though as they were supposed to be flown on auto so its buttons again! Simples. I deleted my old version. I'll never use it again. Not when I've got this DCS 1.5 with everything maxed out and v-sync on. If I switch it off fps go into three figures! Bring on the NTTR

Hmmmm......yeah, I can see some fundamental design flaws here - getting your scrotum caught in the cam wheel under emergency braking would be a major one. @Crash; chain life would no doubt be short but the main problem with these sort of things is the primary transmission - transferring all that torque from the crankshaft to the transmission. I know he had to use a three speed gearbox from a late 'fifties Holden as it was the only thing he could find that would fit in the available space with a butch enough mainshaft to cope with the power output. This engine was created by slicing off two cylinders from a scrap merlin that came out of a Mossie.
