I think you're right FT. Mick does run a GTX680, no? Check this out; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GIGABYTE-GA-X58-USB3-i7-950-CPU-Corsair-XMS3-12GB-RAM-Gaming-PC-bundle/222430372268?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D888007%26algo%3DDISC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140328180637%26meid%3Db5b9a7f10e6c441fafe5b05aefed693d%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D122385079400 A 680 on this will run all the modern stuff just fine. Fifty-one Squid! A quick trip to the nearest Maplin shop to pick up one of their excellent, cheapie PSU's and it'll run anything. Job done.

What issues are you having Mick? I ran Cliffs with the same processor pretty well. You've already got an Nvidia 680 haven't you? That is still a decent card and should have no problems with Cliffs. If you're having problems now I'd be very surprised if getting 970 would help. As Jabo suggested; getting a newer processor in the multi-core range would be a better option than a new graphics card.

Not a new toy but yesterday was - astonishingly - my eldest son's twenty-fifth birthday. As we sat at the breakfast table and the sun rose over another drizzling, arse-freezing, grey morning; "So what are you doing today, son?" "Melissa (GF) says we're going for a romantic walk on Dartmoor" "Dartmoor...today?...nice....." What she did infact have planned was an hour in this; Doing a touch and go at Innsbruck! He said it was fantastic!! Wouldn't mind a go myself. He did it here; http://www.virtualjetcentre.co.uk/

I wasn't going to post this one here but this upgraded forum we've got really improves the presentation of YouTube vids. I wanted to see what it looked like on my big (ish) screen. -
Let me get this right.....online you can get out of your Spitty, climb up on someone else's wing and they can take off with you on the wing....? Can the 'pilot' look out and see you standing on the wing? If so, fantastic!

Cor! That was brilliant Colin. Found myself muttering "have the bastard now!!" a couple of times. Do you have any in cockpit footage of this game?

No trim on a rotary yet. Except the all-moving horizontal stabilizer on the '109. After some angst about it on the BoS forum Jason said they would look into it but no news yet. However, daftly, having the 109 stab on an axis means this is open to an exploit wherein the more dedicated Luftwhinners have put the assignment for 109 stab on the joystick axis. Todd; don't waste any time on Reshade today. Tomrrow there will be a big, BIG update that will bring us version 2.006. Amongst a load of other stuff this will make the game run in DX11. That means everyone running SweetFX at the moment will have to re-apply it using the DX11 version. Standby for lots more info on applying SweetFX and Reshade version 3. -

Er......that seems to be the obituary of a guy who died in April 2014?
-
I remember Taildrag. His wife was in a care home and the kids had moved away.....BG used to email him and he joined us a couple of times for UbiZoo coops. He was very well spoken and had old-school manners - called everyone Sir. It was pretty humbling to fly with him. Does anyone recall his full name? I'd like to read an obituary. I seem to remember he had quite an extraordinary story. He was interested in flying as a kid and got a job at a local field. In the course of this they taught him to fly. This was around 1940 -'41. Just after his eighteenth birthday he applied for pilot training but was rejected as he didn't have a college education. He became a Marine flight mechanic. Fast forward eighteenth months and .....where was he? Was it Saipan? I think it was Saipan. They'd been working their asses off, his unit had been taking losses and he was feeling pretty blue. One day he decided to take a Dauntless he'd serviced for an unofficial air test! He did a couple of circuits and then decided to land it and face the music. After all - what was the worst thing they could do to him? Send him off to war! What they did do - shortly after his interview with the CO - was send him to flight training school and he arrived back in the Pacific to see out the end of the war flying Corsairs. I hope he's with his wife now and may they rest in peace together.

Happy birthday Jim. We won't forget.

I've got Flaming Cliffs 3, the Sabre, MiG-15, the Nevada map - which is fantastic - and the P-51. I reserve DCS for my propellerless flying and frankly the Flaming Cliffs level of simulation suits me fine. I'm never going to have the interest or the will to learn all the systems as modelled by DCS but obviously lots of people out there do. When I fire up 'me F15 or Su I still have to have a couple of pages of notes to hand to handle the radar modes! What I'm really looking forward to at the moment is the release of the updated Crimean peninsular map. I've taken to flying DCS with Nvidia downsampling on with SweetFX and it looks fantastic. Not too enamoured by the P 51 though and I think, for me, DCS WW2 is a non-starter. -
Two threads? Blimey, only the Queen gets two birthdays. Impressed. Big S!

Hello guys! , @FT; motion blur can be turned off. I don't fly with it on but I do like to enable it when making videos. Also, everyone must fly (or drive) whatever takes their fancy. However, I don't think anyone can really concentrate on more than two flight sims at one time without giving up too much free time which would otherwise be spent doing more "normal" things - like talking to wifey or partner, chasing women, seeing friends, walking the dog, playing with the kids, etc. So choices have to be made.....which brings me to; @Crash; I must admit, at the moment I have neither IL2 1946 or Cliffs installed. IL2 'cause it's just a bit too painful to look atcompared with all the other more modern stuff out there and Cliffs because....well, I've still got around 700 hours in it logged through Steam as I flew it for the first three or four years after release when no one else was interested in it. If and when TF patch 5.0 is released I'll have another look, especially if they manage to produce a unified installer, but we'll see. At the moment I fly BoS and DCS - at about 11p.m. at night, perhaps two or three times a week. I do have my newish job which does indeed mean much less workload at home but since the spring this free time has been taken up with the kids. My oldest lives at home - which secretly pleases me a great deal - and I've been playing a lot of golf with him and his mates of an evening and I also seem to have spent a great deal of time in the sea with my youngest this summer. We've both got right into snorkling around the rock pools at high tide and kayaking and just...stuff. Oh yeah, and my electric helicopter collection and more...stuff. So my sim flying time is taken with those two sims at the moment. Of course thats a solitary affair at 11p.m. So I'm not really at the PC during Dogz times at the moment. A lot of this is because I'm acutely aware that my time as a "dad" - taking an active part in my childrens lives - is, sadly, drawing to a close. In the next couple of years my youngest will no doubt discover the opposite sex and it'll be "not now, Dad" Sob!!!! -

All things seem to be possible - even trim on a slider - now Loft has fallen on his Balalaika and Jason is running the show. In the meantime; This week I 'ave mostly been flyin' the Pe-2 online.
