  1. New to BoS? Wanna' go online? Sure, why not? Just grab yourself the easiest plane to fly, preferably one where you can't break the engine and with just one big 'go lever' to worry about. Ahh...the Bf109G2. Great - it's got gunpods too. Load 'em up and head off to the nearest enemy field! Lets not worry about balancing the server or anything.... Hey, get shot down? Is that allowed - I mean, I just paid sixty bucks for this game and I get shot down?
  2. Ninety-five million? Hasn't the five hundred buck Occulus Rift just made it obsolete
  3. ? Sorry Perf but this has me completely confused. The PR guy is the most important member of TFS? Seems unlikely. Whats all this about new owners? 1C haven't "acquired" CLoD. They've always owned it and for all intents and purposes they abandoned it back in 2013! Since CLoD only runs through Steam, if 1C wanted to kill off CLoD they could have simply switched off the Steam server at any time in the last four years. It seems to me that most of the "veiled talk" that seems to surround CLoD and TFS at the moment emanates from a small group of grown men who seem to harbour some rather child-like jealousies of what TF have so far managed to achieve. Perhaps we all owe TFS a little patience. They have the code, they also have day jobs. Even if TF 5.0 isn't released until well into next year, they'll still be faster than the pro's running DCS!
  4. Since I only use my PC for flight sims nothing about this update appeals to me. Internet security isn't a bother either as I don't do internet banking or anything like that and I'm too old and flaccid to be interested in any sort of dodgy websites - unless flight sim forums count as "dodgy" that is. I do have a vast collection of laptops - eight! - which technically belong to Devon County Council. As all the data on them lives in Babcock's* Cloud, if anything goes wrong with the latest model techie man comes over and gives me a new one. No joke. Saving the public's money? Why would anyone want to do that! *Babcock = yes, the defence contractor. They also run Devon's education services!
  5. Yes. Off as in "leave that bloody computer alone and put your son to bed" off.
  6. I had that Bill Gates fiddling inside my PC again last night. I really wish he would stop doing this. After he'd finished giving me his Creators edition of Windows10 my TrackIr would not work. I deleted the whole shebang and reloaded everything but to no avail. Every time it wouldn't work I'd get a nice message from Bill and his friends that when they discovered a solution to this problem, they'd get back to me. Nice. In the end I rolled back the update and everything worked again. I don't mind Windows10 but most of the time I've really no idea what my PC and Bill and his friends are doing.
  7. A 980? Possibly but there seem to be many guys running BoS in VR with a 970 quite happily. Heres a quick vid of Jason Williams at the 1CGS offices in Moscow last week. The machine he's using has a gtx770!! For me the biggest obstacle to all this will be my wife. Will she tolerate me - and our youngest - wearing scuba diving equipment indoors?
  8. I did wonder about that last run over the field but it seemed like a good idea at the time It was like this guv'nor..... I didn't realise you've got the now dreaded 780 Crash. Good luck with a fix. Nvidia's last driver update was meant to cure it but......... It seems BoS's VR implementation has blown everyone away. I am very tempted by the Rift. However, since I'll need an evilbay raid to get new mobo, chip and a gtx970 I'm going to sit it out and see what our Chinese friends can come up with this summer. Pimax anyone?
  9. It seems to have brought me back to the fold! Downloaded Cliff's, downloaded the TFS patch too and away we go - everything working. Well done TFS
  10. BT's magic box arrived yesterday. My internet wasn't working this morning so I fitted said box and... Ohhhh...exciting!
  11. Astonishingly, yes! I bet no virgins ring him in the next 48 hours either.
  12. This is my connection right now, weather dry, winds light southwesterly. Pretty good result. Er...slower than 80% of UK? Oh well.
  13. Yep, it's 'gonna be BT. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly. They're saying April tenth will be the big day. Cable envy? Dunno. Haven't got to grips with my cable yet but BT tell me that, for the first month, it will go "up and down - this is normal" sounds interesting!!!
  14. Hmmm....BT guarantee me a minimum of 50mb. That sounds really good when your getting 1.9mb/s on a wet Tuesday night. Tempting..... I see Micks got the biggest cable
  15. How do you rate the service your ISP is giving you?
  16. Dear Chaps, At last, after years of waiting, I appear to be eligible for superfast fibre broadband. This is quite exciting as my local internet speeds have until now depended on whether its raining outside or the wind is blowing in the "wrong" direction - I kid you not!! I'd like to get this right first time and not end up getting a poor deal from a less than fantastic provider soooo......who do you use and what has been your experience with them? I'm slightly wary of going back to BT - not least because one of my brothers has worked for them for 45 years and he says BT are shit! Any advice gratefully received

  19. Nope. I'm using Reshade version 3.05 and it works fine.
