  1. Very nice takeoff Haven't flown it for a while....but landing the Spit is just the same for me as in BoS; at 1500' and 200mph the runway threshold appears under the trailing edge of the left wing. Close the throttle and start turn onto finals in a curved descent. At 160 put gear down and push prop lever fully forward. Drop flaps at 140 and then concentrate on rate of descent and throttle. Aiming for 90mph and 10' over the threshold and then chop throttle and gentle back pressure on stick. At this point in BoS I can actually let go of the stick and it will land. If all goes well you should get one - Spitfire - bounce and you're then on the roll out. What I really, really like about the DCS Spitty - and the 'Stang too - is the immediate throttle response. This is in marked contrast to BoS. A successful BoS landing is much more of a controlled glide to touch down whereas DCS aircraft can be 'driven' onto the ground on the throttle - much better! Takeoffs? Since I'm still not sure how to trim for takeoff or what throttle settings to use, takeoff in the Spit requires the full width of the runway and any handy, adjacent open ground as I veer to the left and porpoise into the air. There then follows a brief period of fighting with the controls to get the nose down whilst retracting the gear and trying to get the engine under control. I then need around twenty miles of clear air to get the bloody thing trimmed to fly in something approaching a straight line in level flight. After that I can then fly formation - great throttle response makes that bit easier too Takeoff in the Spit? Tis' a mystery to me

Lol. How many other Dutchmen are there that have the cultural references to call someone 'darling' and a git in the same sentence?

  4. Aren't we all?
  5. I've been looking on evilbay too and I'm increasingly coming round to getting a Rift S over a Reverb. The large price difference does matter and I really like the no fuss simplicity of the Occulus set up and being able to run it with Open Composite against the Reverb which would mean running both Steam VR and Windows Mixed Reality

  7. And a very quick bit of pure nostalgia
  8. Yeah, I've seen that. Can't decide between this or waiting for new stocks of the Reverb to arrive.....

The service is taking place right now..... May you rest in peace Bill. It was a pleasure knowing you. S!
  10. @Ft; I've got a couple of things to upload and now things to download too but it's saying I need to verify being a DangerDog with you.....
  11. This is the simple and straightforward solution. I've put up a dogfight server myself a couple of times whilst waiting recently. All we need is for more Dogz to be able to do this. If you can run BoS on your PC then you have enough resources to put up a dogfight server with a.i. Since we have all flown on our dogfight server we all have these missions in our games. They can be accessed by going into Multiplayer>Dogfight>Create Server and then selected from the screen. It's really easy and everyone should have a try at launching their own server and shooting down some a.i.. To be able to put up a Dogfight server that other Dogz can join requires two things; A reasonably strong, stable Internet connection. This is mine and I'm able to host through my PC whilst my router has at least four other devices connected to it. The other, vital thing is to have the correct ports on your router open. This is the biggest single obstacle to most people hosting. If your in the UK and are using BT, check this thread out
  12. Thanks Fen. Will do the updating malarky on my install now. Interesting quote from the above post regarding the MiG19; New cockpit and external model with VR improvements I've got the Harrier and the MiG19. In VR the Harrier is a much smoother, stutter-free experience than the MiG19. Interesting that VR performance can vary between planes in the same sim
  13. Ok, I'm in the thirty gig club. Nice one FT
  14. Givin' it another waz. Downloading 828 skins. Uploading 6
  15. 'Kin 'ell! It's going to end up like this
  16. Yes, you've created a monster FT. We need someone to be Marty Feldman to your Gene Wilder? Or what Fruitbat suggests? Just 4k skins. That would give us a much more managable number and give us a QC threshold.
  17. Ok, am uploading now. I think this is a brilliant and ingenious thing you've come up with here FT. I think the problem is the rest of us Dogz haven't quite considered what it's purpose is. The idea is we can all see what each others skins are when we fly no? Great. However, I notice I've now d/l'd from the vault whole squadrons of 109F4 and HE 111 skins with consecutive numbers that none of us will ever, ever use. I think this is a great tool for us but we all need to prune our skin folders first.
  18. Ah...ok. Have now halted the operation. Before doing this I gave my skin folder a severe pruning to get rid of all the old, often 2k skins that I'm never going to use and didn't want to inflict on other peoples drives. I see my skin folder is now at 19gig and growing and is now filling with skins that others have d/l'd over the years and don't use either. Thanks for your efforts FT but I don't think this is for me.
  19. You did indeed! It's now doing it thang' 608 local skins found and 1408 remote skins found. No idea what this means but it does sound very impressive.
  20. Ah...thankyou FT. That almost did the trick Now getting a message sayin' You cannot be verified as a member of the Dangerdogz. If you are a member, send a pm to FT mentioning this issue
