  1. Ok Crash, good luck with the download. Incidentally what stick and/or throttle do you have? Are we all available Bank Holiday Monday, PM, afternoon or eve?
  2. Glad to capture two such enterprising individuals so early in the net! Tho, Jedi, not sure you need the instruction.... Nick, we shall indeed be taking off, but I'll cover the necessary steps and techniques needed as part of the training, and if all else fails then 'Right Win + Home' will automatically run through the startup sequence - tho it does take a little longer as the computer does it absolutely by the book. Jedi taught me how to get the Hog up and running in almost half the time. Once you've done it a few times and have a vague grasp on why stuff has to start in a certain order it all becomes quite methodical and nearly easy.. ish.
  3. Hello Chaps! Sign up here for those interested in an online instruction evening, Maverick orientated, with yours truly hosting and instructing. Mission date to be decided depending on your availability. Flying will be on version 1.1.1.1. We'll be setting up the aircraft to launch and prosecuting targets (that sounds so cool, doesn't it?) with the AGM-65 in both it's Infra-Red Guided 'D' and Optically Guided 'H' variants. This will include basics in 1) using the Targeting Pod (TGP) in air-to-ground mode, 2) the setting up of Sensor Point of Interest (SPI) 3) use of the Digital Stores Management System (DSMS) 4) firing a $50,000 bundle of shaped-charge warhead stuck to a big ass rocket at some Russkis in an amoured tin can. You can do some things to help make sure the evening goes smoothly; most importantly make sure you are fully familar with where the following HOTAS controls are mapped, if they are not set as default: - TMS Hat * - Slew Hat - China Hat - Coolie Hat * If you are using default keyboard commands you may wish to remap this one; it is currently set as Left Ctrl+Cursor keys which is bloody difficult to do whilst trying to fly the plane as it requires both hands to function. I've remapped to Right Ctrl+Cursors, as it's far easier. Also advise you look through this thread here: http://dangerdogz.com/forums/topic/9328-the-gen/ It has a few links to some very handy tutorials that will help prepare you for the coming mission as well as tips on using other weapons. Looking forward to assisting you chaps blowing the living sh*t outta stuff!

    Screenies!

Lovely shots from time with the Dogz
  5. For those witha penchant for AVTUR: Also interesting soundtrack, n'est pas?

  7. Another 8760 hrs for the life logbook! Congrats mate and happy flying for the year to come!
  8. Another handy guide for those of us who keep running foul of the SAM threat. And I definitively include my self here!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEtRfPGTyt8&feature=related
  9. Ok, thanks to the new patch the CBU-97 is now an effective anti-tank weapon (bout time!). However there are some caveats still. For those that want to know WHAT a CBU-97 is and how it goes about it, try our good ol' friend Wiki As for instuctions on the best way to use the buggers in game, try here - you'll have to change a fuse setting in the DSMS (warning, complexity notice; took me a few goes to get it right, will happily advise anybody who'd like help): http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3431480/HELP_My_CBU_97s_Don_t_Work_or_.html#Post3431480 Note that you fire the CBU-97 in CCIP because it is an unguided weapon. There is a JDAM style tail & guidance package to give it INS guidance and this turns it into an CBU-105, and can be fired in the same way as a traditional JDAM (create a SPI on your target, get a good height and when 'MAN REL' flashes up on the left side of your HUD press and hold your weapons release button until the weapon drops).

    The 'gen'

Gonna post some good sites and vids here for those of us who have trouble with aspects of A-10C - and who doesn't?! Even when I think I've got something taped turns out there's an even better way of doing things! Good weapons tuorials here: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3171145/How_to_use_weapons_Picture_gui.html#Post3171145 Lots of handy Vids here: http://www.lockonfiles.com/index.php/topic/36410-dcs-a-10c-warthog-quick-guide/ By all means post any top quality How-To guides here too!
  12. Changing ISP but since my current contract with O2 runs out tomorrow and Virgin ain't coming till Wednesday, there's gonna be a bit of a hiatus regards my online activities. It's ok tho. I've already selected which leg I shall chew off in frustration and both it and I are resigned to our fates. See you in 5 days. I hope...
  13. Working round other commitments tonight, but will try to be on sometime after 2100GMT
  14. Think that's a typo Snack. Definitely those keys move the designated sensor cursor - i.e. whichever sensor you have selected (in game parlance, Sensor Of Interest or SOI), which includes the Mav seeker, the Targeting pod and/or the cursor on your tactical map display (called TAD) in the left MFD, these keys will move that particular sensor's field of view or the cursor acros the map to select a position. As for trims, I suspect perhaps the quick manual has a typo and forgotten to put a modifier (shift, Cntrl Alt) as prefix to those contorls but can't be sure; I've changed mine from default to be the keyboard cursor keys. They're defaulted to be used as flight control input, but my opinion is that if you have a joystick, then you don't need the cursor keys to fly the plane!
  15. Hi chaps, will quite happily run through LGB procedure tonight - it's not too complicted, just a few key steps to remember, and if you get those right, it's a doddle. Indeed, once you master the Litening pod, you can use it for picking targets for everything, including Mavericks, which means you won't have to close to within the potential engagement range of any air defences and can quite happily pop targets from stand off distances - not quite as adrenaline fuelling as a head-to-head with a Tunguska maybe, but your far better for life insurance premiums believe me!
  16. Roger that Snacko. BTW, you know that there is a startup cheat key that lets the AI do the procedure for you? Once in game just hit Right Windows + Home and 4 mins later you're ready to roll.
  17. Ditto Snacko. However, it can be worth aquainting yourself with as some servers seem only to have that as an option and it gave me heart that Jedi got going in a matter of minutes just now; a lot of it is just practise, tedious though it maybe. As it goes, I'd much rather be spending my time figuring out the best strategem to take out that Platoon of T-72s without getting my ass blown off by MANPADS, Shilkas or SA-9s, than cursing my poor memory over the startup procedure, so sympathise I do!
  18. See you round 2030 DZT if that's cool with you chaps?
  19. Specifically addressed to Jedi, Bongo and Capt. Jack but extended to any breatheren who like to strap into the Warthog and put depleted uranium on target, I'd like to investigate this beasty some more and get online to boot. I propose an evening (DZ Time, naturally) where we investigate the online ettiquette (I have no ideas on what the form is, if it's co-op or DF seperate like Il-2 or something more fluid) and also swap any knowledge on how to get to grips with the vast avionics procedures. I for one am comfortable with getting rid of any weapon on the aircraft and making sure it lands somewhere near a bad guy, so will be happy to enlighten anybody whose having trouble with that particular hurdle. Currently, Sundays or Mondays are the only times I can gaurantee attendence, though this coming Friday (4th Nov) might be an option. Come one come all, the more the merrier!
  20. Well, after a harddrive inspired hiatus, I never got round to reinstalling A-10C. However, today that changed, and, by jove, what a bit of kit it is! Despite the million odd button combos just to turn on the AirCon (which I still haven't found; or the seat butt massager either for that matter) I finally completed an instant action with all weapons on targets, and all targets smited with liberal doses of high explosive, with even an RTB to boot. Smug and satisfied! Some screenies for your delectation:
  21. Consider any visit to Duxford an automatic 'HELL YES!' from my corner.
  22. And available on iPlayer for those with permissions. Apologies to our non-UK Dogz if you don't have access. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0153yb6/hd/The_Spitfire_Britains_Flying_Past/
