DD_Fenrir replied to DD_Fenrir's topic in DCS Series
@BluBear @Friar @Zukker @wingflyr @DD_Sheriff @fruitbat @Ben griffiths @Perfesser @APHill As promised, the modded The modded Weapons.lua most brilliantly researched and provided by No.19 MJDixon will also be required to partake in the event. To install: Find your original Weapons.lua file in the core DCS folders: Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\CoreMods\WWII Units\Weapons Copy this file and save it in a separate part of your computer Now drop the Weapons.lua attached to this post in the Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\CoreMods\WWII Units\Weapons folder. Voila! Note: we recommend that if you like to play on other public Multiplayer servers that you do not make this change until just before the event as it will likely fail integrity checks and prevent you from joining those other servers. When the event is complete you can either run a repair or (much quicker) just replace the original you copied out back into the aforementioned folder and overwrite the mod. Weapons.lua -

@BluBear @Friar @Zukker @wingflyr @DD_Sheriff @fruitbat @Ben griffiths @Perfesser @APHill With no hotfix patch drop today, we're going to assume that there won't be one this week. As such I will provide a modded weapons.lua file on Friday evening, with instructions as to where you will need to install it. PLEASE NOTE: I have a dedicated Discord server for hosting the briefing and any additional skins/resources required for the mission; if you are not already a member please join here: https://discord.gg/CXK79Cff Please ensure you have joined prior to the event. -

DCS Event: Ramrod 564 - The Amiens Prison Raid 2026
DD_Fenrir replied to DD_Fenrir's topic in DCS Series
@BluBear @Friar @Zukker @wingflyr @DD_Sheriff @fruitbat @Ben griffiths @Perfesser Would you all be available next Sunday the 1st of March to have a retry? We are hoping ED might post a hotfix this coming week, and even if they don't, Dixon at no.19 Sqn has developed a work around he is prepared to distribute to any would be participants; it would require replacing a weapons lua in your Core DCS directory but as long as you backup the original and replace it as soon as the event is over, it should not compromise your wider DCS multiplayer accessibilty. -
DCS Event: Ramrod 564 - The Amiens Prison Raid 2026
DD_Fenrir replied to DD_Fenrir's topic in DCS Series
@BluBear @Friar @Zukker @wingflyr @DD_Sheriff @fruitbat @Ben griffiths @Perfesser Unfortunately, due to issues with the recent bug ED introduced with vast swathes of scenery going up in flames with even a single 500lb bomb hit, I am obliged to postpone this event until there is a fix; the prison is getting nuked with even just one Mosquito-load of bombs. I am as disappointed as you, but we are ready to go live as soon as the issue is fixed. -

A bit of advice to those new to Beyond Visual Range weapons employment; the Crank is the most fundamental tactic to be employed and if you don't know it or how to use it you are putting yourself at a significant disadvantage when engaging other BVR capable enemies in DCS. The purpose of the Crank is as follows: To limit your downrange travel by reducing your relative velocity towards the enemy thus keeping you further from the enemy (and potentially out of his weapons employment envelope) till the time your missile impacts than if you had kept driving toward the bandit To reduce the weapons employment envelope of the bandit by significantly offsetting the intercept point, causing (i) any missile he employs to pull a significant amount of lead and thus expend energy, and (ii) extending the flight time of that missile and thus depleting it of further energy and reducing it's terminal phase manoeuvrability and therefore lethality.

Hi Col. The guys are referring to the visibilty icons in the 3D environment, rather than the F10 map symbols.

BluBear and I also managed to eliminate the "AmmonitionDepot" (sic) to the North of Sochi with some thoroughly enjoyable dumb bombing - though, it must be said, making dive bomb attacks with a fast jet into a fairly narrow valley with very steep slopes on either side provides for a few squeaky bum moments!
