  3. Nice Largie, it's always fun when something like that turns up somewhere incongruous Jabo
  4. finally figured out how to install CODBO from the disk rather than a 6GB download. Bloody Steam ™

      B16Enk

installed it from Steam, didn't take too long ;-)

Would be interested to know who else will be online in CODBO, a DD Clan perhaps?

  5. Given where it's been for the past 65-odd years, I'd say that's pretty good. Mind you, it'll take a while to buff the dents out. Jabo
  6. Got the Q9650 now, so looking at 8GB rather than 4 of RAM and either a GTX480 or one of the new 500 series cards depending on cost at game release. I will be playing it, that much is certain. Jabo
  7. A bit more super-computer ish than some of us have m8 - Looks like I'll need to shell out for a new graphics card (at least) once the game launches

    Will This Work ?

Not sure what you're trying to achieve here m8. Are you wanting to add the new HDDs in while retaining the existing one? If so, then yes, that should be fine, although removing the windows install from the new HDDs would be a good idea (I'd use ubuntu and gparted for this as it doesn't use the windows folders at all and you can delete them easily) If on the other hand, you want to replace the HDD in your wifes machine then, no (short of some serious technical jiggery-pokery - which doesn't always work in any case). The best solution is to get all the data onto one of the two disks, then format the other and install windows again. If it's an upgrade version of 7 that you've bought you'll probably need to install an old version of windows first. Jabo

I'm with FT here Jim, you can't just create an image of windows on one machine and transfer it to another unless the two machines are near identical from a hardware point of view. Can you boot the machine in safe mode? If so, deleting the SMbus controller driver (in Device Manager) sometimes helps, but personally I've always found sorting out the problems to be such a ballache, I've just gone for a reinstall of Windows. I can be available on TS if you want to discuss it. Jabo
  10. We've played the carrier one online before, landing is a challenge, but I remember it being fun. Thanks Snacko

We have a similar problem with some of the Packard Bell laptops, the higher-spec machines have a touch button which turns the touchpad on and off - we see lots of those back, despite the picture of a touchpad, the fact it illuminates (in red) when OFF and, oh yeah, it's in the manual too - all 10 or so pages of an A5 booklet. Cheers Friar

Seconded (or thirded - whatever) Colin, great event, and glad I was late enough to step into Sid's spot as the Joker, although I'm certain his performance would have been better. Still, I didn't crash, so maybe there's hope yet. Jabo
  13. Good news Jim. Jabo
  14. Ditto JP.
  15. Welcome to the pound Bear. Jabo
  16. It'll still have swollen caps though - I generally assume that's sufficient to file the board under B1N Jabo
  17. For the Spit opening scramble/tailchase/chaos what time do you want us on the ground @ Dux? Ignore this, I just read the damn brief. Dogz time has me confused though, I think its the same as UK local at present? Incidentally, anyone fancy flying another Mk16 with me so we can have a Griffon pair? Jabo
  18. I'm up for the opening scramble. Not got anything else organised, but I'd be glad to be a part of this. Jabo
  19. Tonights offering is the second of two programmes screened on the 15th September (Battle of Britain Day - as if you weren't aware). Entitled 'Aftermath', two historians and AVM Greg Bagwell discuss various aspects of the battle from personal and professional viewpoints. Screened by the BBC as part of the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, and posted here for the benefit of those without access to iPlayer. Jabo P.S. Four down, five to go! (Plus one which isn't about the Battle of Britain, but about the Dambusters, so it's sort of relevant.) Still to come The Real Story - Tells the story of the battle from the Luftwaffe point of view The South Coast Trail - A journey along the South Coast looking for evidence of the batttle still visible today Spitfire Women - Looks at the work of the female pilots delivering unarmed aircraft to fighter bases during the battle The Battle of Britain - Ewan and Colin MacGregor examine the history of the battle. Battle of Britain Sunday - The remembrance service from Westminster Abbey including the flypast. Dambusters Declassified - Actor Martin Shaw goes in search of the real story of the Dams raids.
  20. Sorry to hear about your problem Jim, but I'm glad you're on the mend. Catch up with you soon ~S~ Jabo
  21. Yeah, not good for certain if it's that loose. Jabo
  22. I'm in! (posted in both threads to be certain)
  23. Doesn't look to good to me Snacko m8, but I know a lot of the laptops we sell are going that way. not tried an eSATA connection with any of them yet, but I'll have a check at work tomorrow and report back
  24. Well, I've had a very unproductive conversation with the management at the Red Lion this afternoon. Despite our reputation (lol) they are charging the full £140 rate for Legends weekend (this is in the Holiday Inn). They won't know if rooms will be available in the old buildings until next year and in any case they will be similar to the costs for the Holiday Inn. This is daylight robbery - it was cheaper to stay in London this year for chrissakes. Screw 'em, I'm off to buy a tent, unless JPs excellent suggestion bears fruit(bat). Jabo
  25. I too am bedless, not paying what TRL are demanding - pity. Anyhoo, I'll be there Friday and Saturday Jabo
