It's been mentioned elsewhere that we should have a single post detailing current settings/versions etc of the game and comms software required to join in the online shenanigans. Here's an attempt to do this. Current stock game version - 4.12.2 Current modded game version - HSFX 7 Current comms version - Teamspeak 3 (32 and 64-bit versions available) - Use of Push to Talk is preferred. To patch your install of the game to the correct version, please follow the instructions below; 1. Make a copy of your current game folder (obviously you might need to install it first) and rename the copy to 'IL-2 (HSFX7)' (or whatever you like) 2. Download FT's utility dd_Chkmods.zip here. 3. Extract the zip file to a folder (in this case d:\users\nick\downloads\dd_checkmods) 4. Open the folder, find the chkmods.exe file then right-click on it and select 'Run as Administrator' (This is VERY important) 5. Assuming all goes well, you should wind up with a screen that looks a bit like this one; (If you get the following error; then send a PM to FT containing your IP address as he will need to register your access.) 6. Assuming no problem, you then need to ensure that the 'IL2 Modded is in' box points to your newly copied game folder and the 'Check Against' box reads 7.0.3 then click 1. - Verify Mods. Let that run (it may take a while) and once the first step is finished click 2. - Fix Issues. Let this run (it will almost DEFINITELY take a while if you're installing HSFX7 from scratch). Keep verifying and fixing until the verification doesn't find any problems. 7. Close CheckMods, check you can start the game and that version showing on the splash screen is V4.12.2 HSFX v7.0.3. Assuming it is, say some nice things about FT and you're done. 8. Remember 'Expert Mode' is enabled by default through JSGME so you'll be all set up to join an online co-op or dogfight map. So that's it - you're all ready. See you in the big blue! Thanks Jabo

I'd start from scratch JP, install from your disk (which will be 4.07). Use FT's megapatch link to get to get to 4.10. Then patch it up to 4.11.1 & finally hsfx6. Oh my giddy aunt. Ok, in the end I went for an i5-2500K purely because (if I want) it can be overclocked further than the ivybridge 3570 with a good old fashioned air-cooled set-up. I also picked up the board as detailed above. Having set the whole thing up (twice - the first attempt was fubar) I tentatively pushed the auto-overclock button in the windows application - it asked me whether I wanted 'fast' or 'extreme' settings. I opted for 'fast' on the basis that I didn't know if the kit would manage 'extreme' overclocking. The whole thing went away and thought for a bit before restarting the machine and once I was back into windows presented me with the information that the CPU was now clocking at over 4.3GHz!!! More than 1GHz faster than the stock clock speed!!! Man, that's frickin' awesome! Jabo

I had a bit of a brainwave this morning and fired off a speculative email to tamiya's uk importer who very kindly came back to me and said I could have both wing sprues sent to me for the very reasonable sum of £6.99! This started out as update #2. Dry fit of center section to fuselage. All well and good you might be forgiven for thinking...Unfortunately I've now tried fitting the lower wing panels only to find that they don't quite fit. This is a little confusing as I'm pretty sure that when I checked the wing - centre section joint a few days ago everything fitted like a glove and now it doesn't which presumably means that the jonts connecting the upper wing to the lower centre section are out somewhere and of course they will not be coming apart any time soon now they're glued in place - bugger. So now I have a little head-scratching to do to 1) find where the problem is and 2) find a way of fixing it. Hmmmm. Other than that things are coming along nicely with the interior and sundry other bits with will feature in the next update. Jabo
