Sidley has left the building...
Friar replied to Sid's topic in IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles Series
looks like he has done something in his pants! -
I have messaged Deacon to ask him if they have thought about comms and what they might need so will update you when I know more.

@Parts Thank you for contributing to the war effort and your support for this event. I agree with both you and @FoolTrottel. My suggestion would be 1. Two separate channels, one for air, one for tanks. 2. Pilots can all be in the same channel, from what I have heard comms discipline works (ala P38) so should be ok. 3. Tank General (Parts) is the only person to Speak to Air Commander (Fenrir) and visa versa. 4. Tankers also all in the same channel, however MUST, MUST, MUST only speak to crew mate (if applicable) via whisper. I would also suggest only Tank Commanders (where multi crewed, for single operators, they of course will be their own Commander) should communicate to the open channel. Other crew members MUST, MUST bite their tongue and ONLY speak to their commander via whisper. They can listen to the "net" (that is what the tank radio network was called. There were often two nets A and B with radio operators having to switch between the two to pick up all the communications.) so they know what is going on and know how many friendlies Swep has taken out ! (only joking Swep, you know I love you really...and it is Valentines day in the UK today...) 5. Parts and Fen no matter what their position (in action / re-spawning etc) will relay messages to each other. 6. Perhaps all specific Tank comms (as I think that could be the most "messy") should start with, for example..."Friar to Parts"... and wait for an acknowledgement. 7. Absolutely no telling us what your wife/cat/fish/budgie/child had for dinner mid battle, in other words when the do-dos is being thrown towards the cooling system, important/precise traffic only. I need to speak to the 352nd about inter group comms. If we host them as well they are going to want to do something similar so could that be a problem permissions wise @FoolTrottel ? If they stay on their own TS, I need to set up a way of communicating with them if there are any issues etc. It would be good for us all to have a chat with all of them during the event, either before or after anyway. Can we do whispers on our Public Teamspeak server?

New P-38/Tiffie Campaign Debrief Thread
Friar replied to DD_Fenrir's topic in IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles Series
Did they "Reighley" (rally) round? Editor: it is never good if you have to explain a joke/pun -
@Crash Thanks for the heads up. I have made the key bridges in the event indestructible but could use it in future missions. I am aware of the repair MCU so know how to do it.

I have put the clear skies back so no shadows on the targets. Enjoy Password temporarily changed - check the private threads for details

Friar replied to DD_Llama_Thumper's topic in IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles Series
Ok, mate thank you for having the decency for "resigning", lots of guys just disappear. Hope you find what you are looking for on the public servers. -

Glad you were able to hook up with your Dad and he was able to fly. It is great what this game can do. We have another of our group, DD_BluBear, who is able to hook up with his Dad, DD_PapaBear, who lives in Ireland and play together.

Salute, I have just sent FT modified dog fight maps which now include the Dog Fight Ladder zone. Once he has been able to upload them it will mean that you can jump on and have a go at any time, you will not have to wait for a special time or a special server to be put up. So come on, if you have not thrown your hat into the ring yet, give it a go. Its a bit of fun, "man-o-mano" The ladder has not officially started yet so its just there for a practice and test. If you come across any issues please let me know.

DangerDogz Dog Fight Ladder 2022
Friar replied to Friar's topic in IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles Series
I have nearly finished checking the logic I want for the ladder matches, once it is working as I want I am going to add it to the two dog fight maps we have which will mean that people can go have a 1 v 1 fight at any time! If you have not signed up yet, why not? Come on, give it a go, pit your skills against the rest of us... -
I love the tanks, our tank map is also up 24/7. On there you have a target range, pick any tank, move into a revetment and start blasting away. Just watch setting up your key bindings for stuff as some functions link with the plane controls, for example engine start, canopy/hatch, weapons etc. If you change one in tank controls you will also change your plane mapping. Start with a Panzer IV. It has 4 positions, Driver, Commander, Gunner, Radio/Bow Machine Gun. The key ones you need to map are as follows, (I shall try and list them in a logical order) You pick a tank and click start (just like the planes, you can select ammo and skins as well, but lets do the basics first) You start in the drivers position. Engine Start (this will be the same as your main plane engine start). The gearbox is automatic. The Power will work on your throttle. Mid way on the throttle is zero power. Anything forward of that is forwards and anything backwards of that is reverse. Turning left and right can be controlled by your rudder peddles. Move To Next Position (default Left Ctrl + C). This takes you to the Gunner seat. Take Control of the Gun (Default T). I have a twist joystick and have left right movement of the barrel on the twist and up down on forward / backwards on the joystick. Others have it on a hat switch. If you want to do something similar there is a tick box in the settings to enable joystick control, default is mouse. Nestle To Gun-sight (Left Shift + T) - This gets you looking down the gun-sight so you can see the ranges. There are other settings but we can discuss these later. Use your zoom to zoom in then press Shift T again, this should fill the screen with the gun sight. Fire Main Gun - same as your plane weapons for main guns. Gun will re-load automatically. Fire Machine Gun - same as your plane second weapons Move To Next Position (default Left Ctrl + C). This takes you to the Commanders seat. Open Hatch same Same as open / close canopy for planes. This will have you standing up out of the turret. You can drive from here but you can not fire the gun. Bring Up Binoculars - Left Ctril + 5 To put them away Left Ctrl +¬ (key to left of !1) Move To Next Position (default Left Ctrl + C). This takes you to the Radio man / front machine gunner. Use T and Shift T to take control and look through the gun sight. Use the mouse to move the gun left and right. The mouse wheel to zoom in and out. I think its Right Click to fire. Mouse Middle button to re-load magazine. You can also map set buttons to jump to positions rather than going via next, next etc. I think that will get you started. Other tanks have other special settings but lets get the basics up and running first. Cheers Friar

Our GBS Server: Two Missions/Maps running 24/7
Friar replied to FoolTrottel's topic in IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles Series
Salute, So I have had a look at the Veliluki map and have moved the air starts and also added some logic that I think will re-spawn the ai patrols after 5 minutes if the leader gets killed. -
As Crash says, the game needs mods turned on, but you actually do not NEED to have any installed, but we prefer guys to have at least the icon mod, which takes away ranges and names and just places a red or blue triangle above the plane. We also recommend to have friendlies set to BLUE and enemy to RED (for danger). this also can be done in the game settings screen. This then does not matter whether you fly allied or axis, friends are always blue and baddies red.

Do you not see the two links in the posts above your last post? If not we will need to get you added to the Dogz members. Download teamspeak from here https://www.teamspeak.com/en/downloads/ you will want the 64bit client The server name is Dangerdogz.com. I will PM you the password which we obviously request you keep to yourself. The P38 mission tonight requires you to be on TS by 20:45 to be included in the event however guys will be around from about 20:00. Salute Friar

There is also the mod to replace the pin up picture with a crib sheet of take off landing speeds and best cruise settings etc. This can be downloaded from here

Salute, Well, it has been far too long since we gave this a re-boot. So here goes... For those of you that are new to the DangerDogz, over 7 years ago we ran a semi-formal competition that sought to find out who was the meanest killer amongst us. I have decided that it is time for that search to begin again. The Format and "Rules" The idea is that we challenge each other to work our way up (or in my case) down the ladder. You will do this by making a challenge to the person either right above you in the table or a couple of positions above (some of the finer points / rules will need to be ironed out, issues of finding a suitable time slot for Europe v North America/Canada may be a problem). The challenger will have the privilege of picking the plane the duel will take place in (both pilots will be in the same type…”obvs”). This may be from a defined plane list (probably all default planes, yes, a Stuka v Stuka dogfight could be possible, it has been done before! unless by agreement of the Challenger and the Challenged to agree on a DLC plane). Once a challenge has been made and accepted it must be recorded on the forum and take place as soon as is practicable. The winner will then update the post with the result and (if possible, a match report). Each match will be a best of 3 contest with points being awarded for just showing up and a point for each victory. The matches will start in the air with both pilots heading towards each other at about 500m (up for discussion). You will maintain (or get back to) the starting altitude as soon as possible and maintain that altitude until you have merged. You will pass each other, NO FIRING, you will salute (using as many or as few fingers as required) and then the match will begin. You may then go up or down as high as you like. A ceiling of altitude may be set (up for discussion), no need to set the lowest altitude. When posting please use the following format to keep the post consistent; Thread Format: Date Challenge Made: <date> Challenge Made By: <pilot name> Pilot Challenged: <pilot name> Date Accepted: <date> Plane: <name of plane> Match Result: Won By <pilot name> / draw (if we have a time limit no winner is possible) Score: It will be one of 3-1 (a two-nil result), 3-2 (a two-one win), 2-2 (one win each then a draw), 1-1 (Three draws). Match Report: A map will be produced with the air starts and a "ring". Players must stay within the area (no running away like a little girl). If possible the features of map editor will be used to warn if you are about to leave the "zone". If possible it will have 3 or 4 rings to get as many matches planned as possible in a Ladder session. Non-flying planes will be placed in the centre of the ring so that other pilots can spectate the battle going on above. If there is anything you would like to add or to suggest parameters for the rules, please do so below. I will create a thread for you to sign-up in so that I can get an idea of numbers and if this is going to work. Salute Friar
