yes, i had a good look round the back the other day. the machine is 4 years old now, well i say that, its like Triggers broom, had it 30 years.....10 new handles and 25 new heads. i have upgraded sound cound, graphics twice and memory twice. When I originally bought it i think i never specified a network card or never dreamed that i would ever need one!

i am thinking of going for the free bt broadband upgrade. i am currently at 2.2mbs but with the upgrade can go to approx 6. for this i will need a router rather than the usb modem i have at the moment. i do not have a 10/100 network card. i have had a quick look in dabs.com and they range from dabs own at 3.97 to upwards of 80. i know they say you get what you pay for, but how much do i want and what should i pay for it?

At the weekend I shall be helping a friend add a new desktop pc to an existing wireless network. He already has a wireless router up and running. Should it be the case that the new pc just needs to be told the access passwords etc for it to sign on to the router and then through to the internet?

I have just been re-reading this thread. I was aware that Jim started a while ago and often speaks of it on line. The post which has drawn my attention is bbloke's about stopping zonealarm and avg. Question for BBloke: Is this safe for you only becaue of the way your hardware is configured? Allways mindful of trying to squeeze the last bit of performance out of my machine, I have asked about shuting anti virus down when playing within the dangerdogz before and was advised to leave them up. I am on broadband from BT using a standard usb BT modem. Any thoughts or guidance welcome.

i have playing with convergences also. except i have been bringing mine right in 150 or 200 for both. i did try the yum yum settings you sent me/posted (1000) but then i twigged that he flies VERY fast, so closing at far greater speed than i m able to achive. so getting back to all firing at one, hopefully if i can get to within convergence range, when i open up, "he should go bang!"

if you have weapon 1 and 2 to fire together, will the machine gun still work when the cannon is empty? if so it is something i might do as well....

I am trying to help a friend who bought a recon laptop off ebay. After not having it very long the thing will not boot. he haas shown it to another contact who thinks that the bios is corrupted. How do i go about correcting the bios to make it boot correctly. Any advise / pointers very welcome.

I am cleaning up an old win 98 laptop that used to belong to my Chairman. His son has some pictures on it that I need to get off before "cleaning it" so that i can bring it home for one of my daughters to use. My problem is that an extrenal cd writer I have can not be recognised and a memory stick wont work either. Does any one have any ideas as to the way forward

Hi, i have never used photshop and was wondering if it would be any use for a situation I have at work. the company I work for own lots of pubs. We are responsible for doing up the outside of the buildings. This involves re-painting. There is no corporate branding/colour scheme, each pub is done up on its own. The problem is the guys in charge of painting a pub sometimes are not sure what colour to use. Painting a pub the wrong colour could be expensive and bad for trade!. My question is would photshop be able to colour in brickwork etc so that they could get an impression of what the building would look like? I have tried it in Paint, but its was very labouious as working on a phot there is no defind area. Any advice / recommenations very welcome!
