a chap i help out has just got a new dell computer. he ordered surround sound as an extra. the computer arrived fine but they sent him a european plug version of the sound system. he was getting nowhere with dell so i called them on his behalf. to their credit dell sent out a complete uk sound system to me no probllem and did not want the wrong one back. i installed it for him last night. i then took the euro one off his hands for him, cut off the plug, re wired it and now i have surround sound !!!!!!! ....unless someone with electrical knowledege is going to tell me that i have done something wrong?

saw it on youtube.com when looking for il2 videos. i thought it had a good story and used some very clever editing (e.g men running TOWARDS their planes to scramble (they must of bailed out from a plane out of shot, and the scene ended before they dived, clever eh?) the music that went with it was good as well.

its the studying of these books, it is affecting my eye sight. I read them for the Nun's Editorials on Page 3

being involved with IT as a job i probably should not be asking this question but, ever trying to ring the last bit of performance out of my machine, here goes....... Once connected to the internet and having started teamspeak, could i turn off the antivrus software to free up memory and resourses as i am connecting to a host direct via the ip address?

i think the max that my dell supports is 1gb dimension 4500

no mine seems ok, although i am getting the game return to desktop sometimes. alt-tab show the process still running and i have been able to get it back up a couple of times. i am thinking of upgrading the power supply (note to self-contact quazi) also i only have 768mb of memory. 512+256 i also think that i made need to put a matched pair of 512 in.

i think 5000 is the correct setting for 56k so you are right i am in the wrong. i will change it tonight.

i am hoping to fly tonight (any one hosting?) i will set in il2 setup my connection to 56k. do i need to adjust the [net] setting in the conf file also? iirc in one one daves postings from sparks isdn had a net setting of 8000 what is the setting for 56k or does il2setup take care of it?

i did think about tim, i only say MAY as that will be my next major course of action if i keep crashing to desktop. i did set up a full 16 plane mission off line the other day and it was fine. i shall have to see over the next few days what happens. i have removed 1 of the joysticks now also.

i go to the post office to get a health form called an e111 and ask for it as a He111

it MAY be the case that i will have to upgrade my power supply. i have a dell dimension. has any one done it before?, should it be easy to to?, is it even possible? the machine will be 4 years old in september. any pointers / advise welcome (all except throw it away and get a new one, that is not an option at the moment)

i am thinking of having a go on warclouds. i have registered on their forum as DD-frior-one does anyone know if that means that i am now ok to go onto the game server? can i "just drop in"?

thanks guys. i needed to get the usb pci card as my dell has 2 ports on the front of the machine in the worst desgined place ever. they are at the bottom but the plugs are inserted at an upwards angle. also under a flap. so crawling on the floor is required and if done at night with a torch as the flap causes shadows from the room lights. anyway the cables were dangerous and I and the kids have nearly tripped over them a couple of times. so i wanted to move them out of the way. so with this card i am actually re-deploying them. from the front to the back so that the cables come over the top of pc. i have fitted the card and it is working fine. WHEN i get trackir i will be needing another slot out of the way. so the 2 new spare i have now will be good. Cheers

As the boards have been a quiet over the past couple of days thought it a suitable time to publish the next parish Newsletter. Village Dance – Review. Last Friday saw the first of our community gatherings in the church hall. It was lovely to see so many of the villages all gathered together in one place at the same time. The function had been arranged to help raise money for the Priory Sanctuary for fallen women. It warms the heart to see that so many of you would volunteer to help catch one. There were some problems with villages being able to get into the hall I know. This lag was due to some un thoughtful parking of a logging tractor. I shall have a word at the next committee meeting. For those not wishing to stand we put out some seats with rows B-G reserved for the senior members of the community. Once in side the hall it was a shame to note that people did seem to divide into two specific groups with some none to pleasant looks being exchanged between them. I do not like to name names but the situation was not helped by Mrs PA in less than a suitable dress for the occasion. Many congratulations must be passed on to the villages that formed a small band for the night, the music was certainly played at a lick, many tunes played at the double. Tap dancing seemed to be breaking out all around the hall. The rhythm was kept going wonderfully by the guitarman. 68 different “riffsâ€

wow, is that right? (doh, stupid, stupid, frior-one must not question the great Roger (bang head into wall) I will clean mine up, it's not as cluttered as TA's was but if it helps to squeeze every last frame out for my machine, i'll clear the frickin' lot!
