Rattler
Some engine detail completed.....more to go, and this is only 1 of them!! I really like how the painting on the supercharger turned out. The instructions called for chrome silver, but all the pictures that I looked at showed an almost black colour. I looked around some more, and many museum engines have the silver/aluminum colour, so I painted it aluminum, then washed a coat of gunmetal over that several times until it was nice and dark. 1. DDz Quorum Painless Posted January 27, 2012 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted January 27, 2012 ~S~ Pete, That engine looks great ! I've read that the Merlin in the Airfix 1/24th Hurricane is much improved from the one in the old 1/24th Spitfire. Do you know if the mossie's Merlins are taken from that kit or completely new ? Cheers, Mick.
1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted January 27, 2012 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted January 27, 2012 a bit "slap-dash" there Pete (thats a term we use here in the UK for a job thats done correctly). You have not picked out the "Rolls Royce" in chrome
Rattler
@Mick - the Mossie is entirely new moldings - no carry overs from any other kit. @Colin - I tried once to do them in red, but it didn't work out well. I'm going to dig out the old paint to freshen the indents of the words, then re-do them. It should look good.
