~S~ Chaps,

Sorry to bother you with a little tech problem but one of the chaps over at Joint Ops has just got a new high end computer using Windows7.

He has installed IL2 1946 from the disc. When he starts the game it loads to 5% then crashes. He has re installed it several times still with the same problem .

I promised to ask if any of you DDz Tech Heads had any idea where to start ?

UK or US based guy?

I ask because 'installed from disk' would indicate he may be using a copy protected version, and 7 has not allowed the driver install.

He could try using the NoDVD patch and see if that will remedy it.

I have the RTM (gold) version of 7 but have to confess I have not yet tried IL2 on it yet, might be able to grab a few minutes to give it a whirl when I get home tonight.

My lad has had some grief with 7 and games on his PC, but he resorted to running them in compatibility mode, which succeeded...he is ahead of me with 7

The answer I have found so far is given to him in the thread over at JO.

I jumped in earlier to give the same advice.

But once I read it, I just kept quiet.

Move IL2 into a folder outside of the Normal Windows structure.

Then install the Mods to get the no dvd, unless he want's to only use 4.08 then.

He can get it form Gamecopy world or the like.

Or you can just copy your 4.08 no dvd IL2fb.exe and email it to him.
