Many fighters don't trim that well.

In the game you can adjust that a bit in the hardware setup. Make sure you're in the "elevator trim" section (top left). This makes it more precise in the center area if the "symmetrical" button is on.

Adjust to your liking and save the profile.

You can play with rudder trim, prop pitch and throttle in the same way.

I found it works best for me to leave the aileron, rudder and elevator at 100 across the board. I did have another profile just for the Spitfire to limit elevator travel to 70 - keeps you from inadvertently getting a high speed stall - dunno if they fixed that in 4.11 but it was bad in 4.10.

Can't remember exactly how that was set up - the profile vanished in the new install.

Yeh, it all dependent on how Ham fisted you are and how your actual individual joystick reacts to the game.

I used to keep track of it like this before FT made the "IL2 sticks" program.

This is what you have in config file when you have the X-45 and CH Pro USB pedal combination.
At least this is true for T_O_A_D's machine with Win XP Pro.

If yours is different then set one line at a time to all zeros. Save file then start game and find out which axis is now dead. Once you know which line affect what axis your on your way.

Came across these today. They are Olegs from I don't know when. Thought you might want them for
  posterity or to try.

I tried those reduced settings for a long time thinking I could be more precise with my guns. The more I messed with them the more I was wandering when shooting.

Might work with a better stick. Mine is getting tired and sloppy.

Posted

Yep, that's my point.

Fruitbats settings are soft compared to mine I've tried them, they have the same effect on me as well too much wandering, and sluggish in the turns.

But as I said it depends on your ham fisted style and your stick and its condition ultimately.

Oh I just re read through my Numbers up there, those are before what I found that worked well before 4.10 for me.

I'm still in the hunt.

Anything not listed below here are all set to 100 all the way across.

What version of IL2 are you using that has this this trim slider?  I'm using 4.11.1 HSFX 6.0.17 and there is no trim setting in the joystick settings menu.  Does it perhaps need to be manually written in to the .ini before it will display?  I, too, have once again given up on the sliders and gone back to 100% across the board.  Just have to learn to be more sensitive about the airplanes needs is all.  (Sheesh, did I really just say that???)

Kira, you will first have to assign a trim axis to a slider... in Hotas control.

After you've done that, it will show up in the Input - Sensitivity settings.

Posted

Exactly.

Trim is up in the top section of the controls but way down at the bottom in HOTAS is where you'll assign it to an axis. That screenshot above (if that's what you mean by " trim sliders") is accessed from the main screen, bottom right hand corner, entitled Hardware Setup and then hit the "Input" tab.

FT, Perfesser, got it, it worked... sort of.  The only "slider" I have left is the rudder rocker on my throttle (which I don't need as I now have real rudder pedals) so we'll see how well that works.  And, not at all C/O the FW-190's beautiful trim gauge.  Gotta be a slider or nothing.  Oh well.  Nice to know and will keep it in mind.  Thanks.

OK by slider you mean something on your controller, not the in-game adjustments.

I use a rotary dial for elevator trim but for rudder I use one of the hat switches on my joystick.
