  1. Nice flyby. Roll limits...we get an aural warning "bank angle" when we exceed 35 degrees in flight and in landing configuration near the ground we get the call at 7 degrees because you will hit an engine pod exceeding that limit landing. In reality you could roll a 74 as long as you keep 1 positive g on the aircraft. If you exceeded that in a roll you'll probally sling the engine pods off the aircraft. Tex Johnson rolled a 707 when demo'ing the ac when it was new.
  2. Condolences BeeBop. I lost my father in 65 when I was 15. He was an Air Force fighter pilot and use to talk to me all the time about flying. This year marks my 43rd year as a pilot. Amazing the influence a father can have.
  3. Welcome m8...look forward to flying with you
  4. I'm currently running a TM Cougar (modded with hall sensors and IJ's NXT) but ever since I had a spring break that I replaced I can't get it to work properly. It doesn't hold its' axis profile (I don't know if this may be related to going to Win 7). Anyway I've decided I'm going to sell the cougar and replace with another stick and am looking for suggestions. I'm thinking either a Saitek 52 or CH 940 setup. Any suggestion or information would be really appreciated.
  5. The Canadian troops in Afghanistan proved they have retained their sense of humour. One of them sent this 1. You refine heroin for a living, but you have a moral objection to beer. 2. You own a $3,000 machine gun and $5,000 rocket launcher, but you can't afford shoes. 3. You have more wives than teeth. 4. You wipe your butt with your bare hand, but consider bacon "unclean." 5. You think vests come in two styles: bullet-proof and suicide. 6. You can't think of anyone you haven't declared Jihad against... 7. You consider television dangerous, but routinely carry explosives in your clothing. 8. You were amazed to discover that cell phones have uses other than setting off roadside bombs. 9. You have nothing against women and think every man should own at least one... 10. You've always had a crush on your neighbour's goat.
  6. follow up I think I'll go with an ASUS P5Q Deluxe mb and an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 3gh processor. What do you guys think about that? Also any recommendation for a power supply and memory? Thanks
  7. Howdy m8s I need some advice from the comp gurus here. My desktop died the other day. I came in and the screen was blank with the monitor light flashing like it was powered but no output from the comp. i rebooted and got the same results. I took it to the tech I always use and after a couple of days he could not get it back up. He did find the 5V plug from the power supply was fluctuating and all other componets check out except he could not check the MB. We talked about it and have decided that maybe the power supply fried the MB (but not absolutely sure). I'm now thinking about replacing the MB, power supply, and upgrading the processor. I like asus MB which is what I currently have and the tech says that maybe staying with the same brand he may be able to keep my hd in tack and just do a repair install of windows on the new MB. Is it possible to swap out the MB without having to start from ground zero on the hd? Any thoughts on a new MB, power supply, & processor would be greatly appreciated. Also thinking about upgrading to Win 7, anyone using that with any problem with IL2. My other concern with 7 is getting my TM Cougar working properly but from what I've read so far people are not having too much trouble with it. Thanks for the help

  9. Random Thoughts of many Days: More often than not when someone is telling me a story, all I can think about is that I can't wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that's not only better but also more directly involves me. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger. There is a great need for sarcasm font. How the heck are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet????? I would rather try to carry ten plastic grocery bags in each hand than take two trips to bring my groceries in. LOL has gone from meaning "laugh out loud" to "I have nothing else to say." I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger. Whenever someone says, "I'm not book smart, but I'm street smart," all I hear is, "I'm not real smart, but I'm imaginary smart." How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear what they said? I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front.

Number 1 TRY SAYING: I think you could use more training.. INSTEAD OF: You don't know what the f___ you're doing.
  13. Hello guys, I just got back from Denver for my 6 month sim training period. After doing the normal training requirements, Maneuvers (approach to stall, steep turns, unusual att recovery), Eng failure after V1, 3 eng manual ILS approach etc for the

  15. This is a good little story about a vivid memory of a P-51 and its pilot by a fellow who was 12 years old in Canadain 1967. You may know a few others who would appreciate it. It was noon on a Sunday as I recall, the day a Mustang P-51 was to take to the air. They said it had flown in during the night from some U.S. airport, the pilot had been tired.

  19. Sweper In that top Dreamlifter photo take in Preswick, Scotland on 26 June was actually my FO landing. I was the Captain and we had arrived from LIBG to refuel and then proceeded to Charleston, SC.
