  2. well done guys - I missed the bulge but enjoyed the desert maps @ Letum -
  3. My x-45 has given up the ghost after a few years of solid abuse. a bit dissapointed tho
  4. another tip is to avoid using boost / WEP as long as possible - this keeps the engine cooler - I have been using this recently with 190s and 109s with very good results- on tueday I was in a protracted df with a yak in a 109k and engine ran sweetly the whole time- usually I have to bug out due to overheat. now I only use boost when extending ( running like a little girl) or trying to close on an extending bandit. the only thing I have to remember now is to turn down revs on 109 prior to engaging boost to prevent greneading engine- some of the top 109 guys use prop pitch but the engine is too fragile IMHO and I usually end up destroying it when I try
  5. Tempest Radial?? Caught ya! DOH
  6. I only use it on radial engines like the 190 and p-47 , zero and tempest . in-line engines are too fragile and grenade with me. spitfire does not need it and 109 is very fragile.no advantage with dora or mustang with p-47 and 190A then put pp to 95% for cruising
  7. next is a tiny amount of filling at wing roots and then sanding then painting wheels are done but will be last thing to put on along with other external small parts the gun hatches will stay open- in fact it would be very difficult to build it with mg151 hatch closed- here is what it should look like finished
  8. Im still undecided wether to open the cowls and show the guns and engine. I like the clean lines of the Fw but if I cover it up then thats a lot of work for no gain. I am going to be very careful with the painting- learnt a few lesons with the last one so will take my time. this will be my last with a brush as well, seen too many good results with spray gun not to get one, but I like the feel of brush, if I could only get that smooooth finish Id stick with it.
  9. made me look tho - but I always follow an old woodcutters advice - measure twice and cut once----- ----clever old 2 fingered Pete
  10. AAAAARGGGHHHH.......................... phew taint you know

  13. 1) Me109 engines have auto management so dont have superchargers or mix. They do have WEP or boost. dont run with boost on all the time or they overheat quickly. Only engage boost when about to enter fight or flight. You need to quickly put revs down to zero, engage boost then power up - if you engage boost with any revs then you will grenade the engine quickly. 2) for superchargers and mix- found usually on US Russian and Japanese. Watch the boost pressure indicator and it will tell you when to apply superchargers. It is altitude dependant so a good rough rule of thumb is below 2000m off or stage 1 and above 2000 stage 2 watch for smoke to know when to lean engines. full details in this excellent article http://mission4today.com/index.php?name ... ow&kid=249 hope this helps
  14. update cockpit detail- the top part of the pit looks squint but

  17. here is the start of the FW190A6 1?48th Im working on. The Eduard model is superb and its the first time Iv used photo etched parts - Its very very tiny -the instrument panel is 6 parts, the seat belts are 2 parts each but its worth it I think you can see a small map box and the rudder pedels are very detailed- pity they are going to be painted over in dull grey
