On the basis that DCS is our new Primary.

The numbers alone say it.

DCS players:

1. BluBear

2. Crash

3. Delta

4. Fenrir

5. Friar

6. Fruitbat

7. Papabear

8. Perfesser

9. Sherriff

10. Squawk

11. TOAD

12. Wingflyr

13. Zukker

GBS players:

1. Crash

2. Delta

3. Mosquito

4. Perfesser

5. Petrol

Given that our primary flight nights are (and always have been) Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, I just can't understand how on the basis of the above that GBS occupies two of those slots now.

GBS doesn't get the support it used to and a lot of  Dogz who used to fly it either have dropped it in favour of DCS or are no longer active (Arthur, Artie, Swep, FunFlak, Painless, Sid, and others) Petrol flies GBS most times but as GBS has a low turnout I no longer post if someone wants to join a Squad on the GBS forum. I do need to be more active on DCS so I would go with the proposal. However how many DCS players would turn up on a Tuesday? If there was an increase in numbers it would be a good move.

As you're all no doubt aware, now they've gotten rid of Jason Williams the 1CGS team have been working on their new Korea sim.

You might be less aware they've also been making...other stuff.

Why are we bringing this up again? just recently we had a vote on this, are we just ignoring this and repeating untill one part of the  squad get their own way ?

do the dcs users really need Tuesday or Sunday when they get such good numbers already? They can use any other nights. I thought Monday and Thursday were dedicated for them.

as the box group only use our servers on Sundays you could run dcs anytime you like but to me it would adversely effect the squad if you run two groups on the same night

To be fair Delta, nothing has changed since January last year when the poll was taken. Since then none of the potential returns to GBS have happened, and the main poster in the poll thread was Tbone who hasnt been on the forum for 12 months. I think that EVERY Dog that flies should post saying what they want and only say that they are returning if they mean it as it squews the poll. I wish that GBS was better supported but the fact is it doesnt have the support it deserves. I do feel that it is a dying sim and although new stuff has been released and a new map announced it has lost the momentum. For instance I used to buy everything but have not bothered with the glider and IAR fighter. It would only make sense to change Tuesdays if the numbers attending increase. I can understand the preference for WW2 skill based dogfights over BVR missiles which no doubt will influence the choice of attendance. I still feels the same and I wrote in this thread

With the missions I am building now with the tools provided by the DML Toolbox, DCS is becoming so much more than just BVR, see a blimp on the radar and fire a missile.

We are being to enable the use of ground troops, providing CAS, deploying JTACs via helicopter, dropping off troops to capture towns and picking them up again, Hercules or Chinook having to fly in supplies to keep an airfield operational etc.

Currently DCS on a Monday tends to be just myself and Fruitbat, others do drop in from time to time. We will use it as testing session for new stuff I am working on or perhaps fly a mission on the Afghanistan map.

Moving to a Tuesday would enable us to pick-up a few extra players that have that day free and show them how exciting DCS can be!

And also as I build the missions I would try to incorporate scenarios and planes that cover a wide range of preferences.

For me I would rather fly in a larger group than we get on BGS nights. Would the DCS boys fly on a Tuesday or Sunday and would GBS flyers do DCS on the chosen night. Can people please say they will probably turn up (I know real life can get in the way). Once potential numbers for DCS are known then maybe a choice that will benefit the majority can be made.

A few thoughts.

The previous poll was relatively useless, as a load of people who don't fly anymore and still don't fly voted in it, so hardly representative and therefore was a waste of time.

Also, BVR is just as skilled as a WWII dogfight, its just different skills. If it wasn't skilled everyone would be able to do it, and few actually can. And once you merge into BFM you still get to use your WWII skills....

Next, I'm unlikely to ever reinstall IL2, its a dead game to me at this stage.

And lastly, I'll turn up to fly DCS nights whenever we decide they are. I do however miss flying on a Sunday where its easier to mix with both sides of the pond.

It's been a year and it feels like GBS has, in my opinion, an undue weight in our schedule given the number of Dogz attending.

As Kev says:

I see it as an opportunity for those of us who represent the majority to actually all meet and garner the benefits of flying as a squad rather than a loose collection of cliques who happen to fly under the same banner.

I would still like to see a list of who would fly when, and more people contributing to this thread (the Bears,Petrol,Wingflyer, Mossie, Perf, everyone really). I would also like 1 night for GBS

I feel the Box group are being dismissed. Yes it is a minority but Jim set up this squad to be fair and equal to all members.

The last 2 recruits, mossie and petrol  only fly BOX so are we going to say that they are not as valuable as those who only fly DCS ?

We are not recruiting either in Box or Dcs and the 16 members Fen mentioned are practically the squad now, I cant see how changing nights would improve anything for the squad as a whole but impact BOX more.

One other issue regarding Sundays is that we host the missions with the 352nd , where we get 12 to 16 flyers, something that I have put a lot of time and effort into and that I would not be happy if it was removed. I have always supported other members missions and would like to think that the same curtesy would be applied to my own.

I realise that I am in a minority and that the more influential members will get the change they desire but I would ask that they respect the Sunday nights we fly with the 352nd, its the only time that the Box flyers use the server to host.

Not looking to dismiss anyone Delta, just trying to make the most of what we have. With the majority of us playing DCS, and it being a mix of EU and NA timezone players, we in the EU rarely see the NA contingent unless they're retirees or their shifts happen to work out.
It would be nice to have an event scheduled where the majority of the DCS users can actually have a higher probability of interfacing.

I in no way wish to bump your nights with the 352nd, by the way; we have managed to schedule infrequent but regular events before and I see it that when you wish to host a Hurricane campaign evening, then you give fair warning, put up the relevant event in the calendar and that Sunday is yours, no argument.

I don't dee that as a problem. Sundays have always ben where we traditionally hold event nights (for the very reason of getting people from both sides of the pond involved) Any Sunday you want to host your missions you get to host.

What about all the other Sundays? Even if it was an every other week swap between the two, that would at least allow the DCS fliers from both sides of the pond to fly together or is that somehow unfair??? And besides, If your using the server, I can always host for the people who don't do Il2 anymore and want to fly DCS that night instead, which doesn't affect your missions with the 352nd.
