wheelsup_cavu Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 Hello guys & gals?? I thought there would be some interest in the happenings at the Planes of Fame locations and their regular and flying events. To keep from creating multiple threads regarding Planes of Fame and their multiple locations, Chino California, Valle Arizona, & Santa Maria California, I will be posting announcements about them and their events in this thread. Planes of Fame Chino, California location: 14998 Cal Aero Drive, Chino, CA 91710 Planes of Fame, Valle, Arizona location: 755 Mustang Way, Valle Arizona At this time the Valle location is closed to the public, possibly permanently? The Planes of Fame, Santa Maria, California location will be at the Santa Maria airport (KSMX). wheelsup_cavu Posted September 22, 2024 Author Posted September 22, 2024 Due to ongoing problems with road construction at and around the Chino airport the annual Planes of Fame airshow is being held in Santa Maria again this year. wheelsup_cavu Posted 18 hours ago Author Posted 18 hours ago This Saturday August 2nd is another Hangar talk and Flying event. The featured aircraft is going to be the OV-10. Events Calendar: https://planesoffame.org/events-calendar Quote Flight of the North American Rockwell OV-10 Bronco We’re honored to have this OV-10 “Bronco” visit us today at the Museum and perform our Flying Demo. Thanks to Matt Nightingale of Cal AeroFab for bringing this beautifully restored aircraft to the Museum and flying our monthly flight. At 12:15, Ken Saltgaver of the Museum will present background information about this amazing aircraft that served as Forward Air Control and gunship to protect grunts on the ground by directing close-air support. Ken will tell us all about the OV-10, from its unique design to its range of missions. And he’ll tell us briefly about this beautifully restored example. Then, pilot Matt Nightingale will fire up the two turboprop engines directly in front of the crowd. The aircraft will then taxi away. Ken will then hold our “Member’s Only” raffle contest for a memorable flight in one of our WWII training aircraft. After take-off, Matt will perform a thrilling demonstration of the Bronco over the Museum for twenty minutes. Upon his return, guests will be able to talk with Matt and ask questions of what it’s like to restore and fly this treasure from the past. This years Central Coast AirFest is just around the corner in October. Website: https://www.centralcoastairfest.com/ Wheels Quote
