  1. 3090, at the moment mate, you've no chance without risking a purchase from eBay, but I understand that there are lot of 2080s turning up in 3090 boxes that way. There are likewise no 3080s but there are some (few) 3070s now being offered (scan.co.uk had about 8 different types of 3070 available yesterday - never mind, I just checked again and they've all gone) 3060's and 3060TIs are faring no better. As Crash said, EU suppliers are your best bet as Brexit makes shipping out of the UK 'interesting' to say the least.
  2. PM sent AOB, any questions please let us know and someone will help you out. Starter info pack you say...we used to have something like that during our '46 days but I never got around to updating it when we moved to GBS. I might revisit that one of these days but our usual somewhat chaotic approach to getting new fliers involved seems to work reasonably well.

Welcome aboard AOB. Pull up a kennel....
  4. It certainly looks like there's a lot of information there, but I don't understand the vast majority of it. Clearly more reading is required.
  5. Signing up for tomorrows mission Tom.
  6. Making it last 10 minutes is just self-indulgent.

Where did you manage to order one from Dave? Everywhere I look is sold out
  8. The 3070 is less capable than the 3080 for sure, but given what you're intending to use it for (i.e. VR rather than RTX), I think it would be OK. There are issues with supply of the new 30 series cards as well as the new 6800 series AMD GPUs, partly because the high value of bitcoin is driving a surge in mining, but also due to scalpers having bought up all the existing stock to resell on ebay at a huge markup. That said, there's nothing to stop you using your 960 in a new system until these supply issues are sorted and you can buy the one you want. The new Ryzen CPUs seem very, very good and generally outperform the equivalent intel processors in multithreaded applications which may not be so much of an issue for simmers. The improvement in the AMD stock has caused an increase in their prices so while they might still be a bit cheaper, it's not by as much as it used to be.
  9. Yep, completely solid - all the way through. I thought my persona was a goner there for sure. I wonder what the chances of that outcome are...must be pretty darn slim.
  10. Hey Chaz! You're very welcome here mate, any friend of Perf's is...well... you know. As I'm sure you are already aware, we're active in DCS and IL-2 Great Battles so hopefully we are already catering for the sims you fly! I'll send you a PM with our TS server details and you'll be able to get started straight away. One key thing to let you know is that we never 'expect' people to attend, real life has a habit of getting in the way of playing games, so whenever you can make it we'll be happy to see you. ~S~ Jabo
  11. Yikes. That was pretty bad. Thanks for the film Chris
  12. I should say that's plenty Chris. Might be advisable to wait until the new 30 series nVidia cards are available though. Origin and Scan are also good and PCSpecialist are rated by some people (I have a record of spectacularly poor customer service from them but other Dogz seem happy so...) Available to chat if needed.
  13. Fair enough, 18 sorties it is then
  14. There's a slight discrepancy in the data there Tom, the first set of data has me down as completing 19 sorties but the scoreboard says 18. I'm guessing PWCG is counting my take-off prang as a sortie?
  15. I've changed the file name - new version has a 2 at the end so no need to delete the original file
  16. New skin is on Chkskins for those who use it.
  17. Is the broken engine a mod, or am I allowed to skip that one? Thanks for the update Chris - very subtle - looks great!

    Sweeeeeeet!
  22. I'll look forward to seeing that! I suspect I'll be getting an unwanted bar to my Purple Heart
  23. Seems Bert might have had a lucky escape there on Tuesday evening after experiencing a structural failure of the left wing seconds after take-off which resulted in the aircraft rolling inverted before hitting the ground very hard still upside-down and spreading itself over a wide area. Worth noting that I accidentally clipped a building with the wingtip while taxiing but decided to proceed with the take-off as there was no visible damage - this was obviously a major error of judgement with nearly fatal quinsequonces. If anyone else suffers a similar mishap, I would recommend scrubbing that sortie! Good job we had no bombs on board, as there was no time to jettison them once the accident started. After consulting a bottle of scotch the MO has cleared me to fly on Sunday...
  24. Wikipedia says SJ + LL and having looked at various versions of the photo above, I'm inclined to agree. Of course, this is taken from footage 'allegedly' shot at the time, but there's nothing to confirm this is the actual aircraft.
