More progress on the base I found a small knurled knob for the pot and used a piece of elastic shoelace joined with an electrical connector. I had to cut the top mounting on the damper as it wasnt wide enough to take the top bearing. After it was all bolted in position it worked well. The next part will be the throttle and thumb switch.

The Leonardo works. BUT it isnt very obvious how to load a downloaded sketch or even how to download the sketch. After quite a while I have the board set up as a 5 axis controller and it tested OK. Now to find the sketch I need, that is 4 axis, one 4 way hat switch and maybe 10 or so buttons.

So far I have repurposed a pair of speaker wall mount brackets for the sides. Then marked out the travel of the arm and the pivot point. I transfer drilled the up and down stops, pivot point, and the two spacer bolts. I then drilled the pivot bearing mounting holes and fitted the bearings. I used a long 8mm bolt as the pivot and drilled the arm 8mm and bolted it in position I was going to use gears to rotate the pot but the ones I got from amazon were too small. I thought the best way would be to use pulleys. I made the large one for the pivot out of a plastic waste pipe union and put a piece of MDF which I cut out with a hole saw to center it All bolted up it looks like this More later.

I have just realised that we are going away for a few days starting on the 21st so I cant make it. Should be there for the rest of it though. How many missions will we be running?

I am having a nightmare with the project. I cant find a sketch that will work with my board and the damper set up is far too stiff. Looks like buying a leonardo is the only way forward with this.

Question for Wingy, when setting up Arduino in sketch, do I have to tell it how many buttons I am going to use or does it just see what I use when I press them?

Yes. You would need a board to connect the pots to. Buy a bag full of switches from ebay and build a button box. Lots of videos on youtube.

Steve Howe 1x Me410 plus a 109. The 109 was already a bit damaged as it was smoking so maybe a shared kill?

One excellent cockpit there Wingy You might have tempted me into building one, then I will have to buy a heli module I still cant work out how the pivot works. Surely not on the pot stem? Any twist grip on it?

Is the old joystick board in the CD player chassis? I still cant work out how it is mounted on the chair. I love this home brewed stuff. Is the throttle on the arm or have you mapped that to other hardware?

Where and how is the axis located?
