Salute, This poll is running over on the IL2 forum (link below if you want to go and vote). Shows we are not alone.... https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/73123-ages-of-the-flying-community/?tab=comments#comment-1109441

Yes, I actually re-read the full thread properly and saw that. Doh!
-
Perhaps those that use a wide variety of them could provide an explanation with screen shots as to what they do?
-
Perhaps it is time for us to update this thread....There may be ones being used that we do not know about that would be a good addition for everyone. I also get that mods are not everyone's cup of tea, but if it improves our experience in a fair and reasonable way, then perhaps they should be explored a bit more. Perhaps we could create a "Dogz Pack" that would be easy to apply via JSGME? The only ones I use are the ones Sid put together for tank and plane icons.
-
If we decide to accept it as an "Official Dogz Mod" then it would only be used by us on our closed co-op's. Because mods effect your local machine, so I could be running one and you not, so yes something like shell effects would need to be global and perhaps raises more questions, however being able to tune back the AI rear gunners if that could be isolated as a separate mod then that would be a good addition I think?

Salute An absolute tremendous High Five to @BluBear for giving me the heads up about the "We have Ways of making You Talk" podcast. I have been listening to some fantastically interesting stuff whilst on walks and doing chores around the garden. I would like to STRONGLY recommend the following episode (which will probably have a lot of meaning for those that went to Normandy a while back. The episode is called "Walking The Normandy Ground". It is a chat with a tour guide who has worked the area for a number of years and his enthusiasm for the subject just pours out. Its about an hour, so download it and take it on a walk or kick back with a coffee. https://play.acast.com/s/wehaveways/344.walkingthenormandyground "Its a 10 from me!" Friar

Did you know a Typhoon weighed the same as 2 empty Spitfires...

Does anyone want to do another session? Do you have any questions, want to go over something? Anyone who missed the first one that now wants to see what it is about?

Whilst doing a bit of research for my next series of missions for Saturday Tank nights I have found this site; https://tanks-encyclopedia.com/ Looks to have lots and lots of tank information.

Salute, Due to myself wanting to get back into Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione, together with FT's favourite bar re-opening, we (well, myself and FT) we will no longer be playing Tank Crew on a Friday evening (UK/Europe time). If anyone wants to join me playing either of the driving simms on a Friday (UK time approx 19:30 onwards) then please let me know (prefer ACC but if it means driving with other Dogz, happy to drop back to AC). No doubt there may be the odd occasion where stars align and we decide to go back to it, but generally we won't be available. I know @APHill and @Perfesser joined us sometimes, so, sorry to them. Cheers Friar

PWCG P-38 Lightning Strikes Co-op Campaign
Friar replied to DD_Fenrir's topic in IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles Series
Just a heads up to any one that has not been following the Euro Football ("soccer" ) championships...England are in the final on Sunday evening, playing Italy. The first time we have reached a final since 1966, 55 years! Although I was not due to be there, I would not have been there if I was.... -
I am around this afternoon if you wanted to try some stuff Reggie (Friday 9th)
-
I have just added it to my bookmarks and tried to connect. It has a lobby and lots of different language rooms split into spectators, Allied and Axis as well as a Tank Crew channel. Might be worth trying on a Friday / Saturday Tank night.

Thanks to everyone that attended yesterday. Hope I did not get too carried away and "bamboozled" you! As I did not record it I will try and start a series of bite size videos which covers what we went over. I will also send out the two user guides I have to those that attended I am happy to do more of these if anyone wants it, also happy to try and answer any follow-up questions.
-
Dang, TOAD, hope you get sorted soon. Yes I will try and record it if I can, always willing to assist another time.
-
Yep, still on. looking forward to having a class of attentive students.

I am not sure if there is one "says it all" guide but the basic commands I think you need to map are; Engine Start (same as key binding as plane controls), unlike planes you only have 1 engine to start/stop. Engine throttle. (same as key binding as plane controls). If using a HOTAS. 50% is stop >50 is forward <50 is backwards. Switch Position (same as key binding for plane controls). Default Left Ctrl+ C. Its like going from Pilot to rear gunner in a 110 for example. Tanks can have 2, 3 or 4 positions. T34 has Driver and Gunner/Commander. Sherman has Driver, Gunner, Commander, Radio man / bow machine gunner. Panzer 111 has 3, Driver, Gunner and Commander. Panzer 4 and 5 have 4 live the Sherman. There are key combo's available to jump direct to a position. For example to go from commander to driver without having to go via radio man. Take Control of Position (Think its the same as planes, default "T") Nestle to Gunsight. (same as key binding for plane controls). default Left Shift + T. It puts you looking in the gunsight giving cross hairs and where applicable (Panzer, T34), a range finder. My Start Up process; When you have selected a tank and game starts you will be in driver position. This is what I then do to make ready. 1. Start Engine 2. Move to Gunner Position 3. Take Control 4. Nestle to gunsight 5. Lower gun to horizontal position (if in Panzer 4). Others make sure you have control by moving left right a bit. Turrets WILL lock during play. Its a well documented pain the A** 6. Go to Commander position 7. Open hatch to stand up and look about ready to move off. Turret rotate left, right, up, down. You can use your joystick for this if you have a twist grip. You have to enable joystick control in the game settings. I have twist enabled for left right movement and forwards and backwards for up down. Weapon Fire. (same as planes) Primary weapon (Main Gun), Secondary (Co Ax Machine Gun). When in bow gunner it uses left mouse click as default, Turning left and right. (Same as planes) I use rudder peddles. Push left to go left, push right to go right. Open Hatch (Same as planes) open canopy. Best thing is to arrange a session and we can talk you through the other bits, like adjusting range of gun sight in Panzer and T34 The DangerDogz Tank Crew Map is up 24/7. Hide the briefing, zoom in a bit and take the Target range icon. Once in drive into a tank position and blast away! We can also multicrew which is a lot of fun (players take role of driver, gunner, commander etc in the same tank) getting blown up with friends is so much more fun... If you want to have a watch whilst having a coffee try Look forward to seeing you on line soon.

People who sent me their email address - FT Crash Artie APHill
-
Lets go for this Thursday 24th at 20:00 hrs UK time. If you would like to take part PM me the email address I should use for the Zoom invite. I will go through a quick overview of the editor, how to pick a map and season etc. I will go through adding AI and how to get them to follow a way point and adopt a formation (same process for planes and tanks) Then take any other questions? How does that sound? If there is anything else specific anyone would like to know, add a post below. Salute Friar
