  1. Some screen shots of what the landscape looks like with this mod
  2. Bump?
  3. Salute Gentlemen, With probably a couple more sessions to go in the current "Battle For Arras" campaign against the 352nd I need to start thinking about what we do after. I hope like me you have enjoyed the challenges the campaign has presented and I would like to do something similar again. We did discuss just running the same event but changing sides, would you like to do that? I have been looking at a very good looking mod that re-textures the Kuban map to be North Africa. It changes all the town names to proper North African ones. It provides desert skins to vehicles and planes as well. Would we like to have a go at a scenario on that (to take part you MUST have downloaded the texture mod. Its quite large but can be applied and removed via JSGME).? This map gives the opportunity to fly from proper airfields and would offer up a plane set of Spitfires, Hurricanes, P40's, A20's against 110's, 109's, Ju88a's and Stukas. On the ground Sherman (perhaps the Churchill if it comes out in time or a Kv-1 "hack"?) v Panzer III and IV. The ground is flat and open so would provide new challenges for attacking and capturing towns. I am thinking of building in AI artillery and ground units to support both forces. The scenario would be Allied forces trying to push the North Africa Corp back from captured ground. If this was to be the popular option I could start building it now so it could be ready to go as soon as we finish in Arras. Normandy is getting close and from the sound of it, just starting to poke its nose over the horizon. The map would provide an opportunity to build a break out scenario following D-Day (might be difficult to do an actual D-Day scenario, will have to wait for the map and what objects are available).
  4. Should we make the Saturday show a Dogs uniform event - will have been a while since the old shirts have been worn in force? We might get recognised as we mill about the airfield? Looking forward to this now. Should we book a table at the Curry House? @BluBear aka Facilities Facilitator?
  5. I have now made you a full member of "The DangerDogz". (You have joined but may never leave, somewhere in our small print is something about your first born but we can discuss that later.) You should also now see some extra threads appear in the forum, stuff we like to keep to ourselves. Welcome to the pound I hope to speak to you soon. Are you joining for GBS or DCS? If Fenrir is going to give you lessons you can not learn from any better in the Spit. If you are here for GBS have you looked at Tank Crew as well? We are also running a campaign against another squad on Sunday evenings starting from about 8:30 if you would like to join. You can fly or tank (or both if you want). The next round is on the 25th September so time to get you up to speed if you are interested. Salute and Welcome again.
  6. 2011 wow! - great find Blubear - glad you still had it. Does that make this year our 18th? I thought we were older than that?
  7. Just seen in the calendar 25th Aug is Jim's Day Salute Sir and may you still be looking down on us with a smile and mumbling to your self "how long have that lot been doing this...."
  8. @Crash They can not do 4th so its now 25th
  9. Next Date Suggested 4th 25th September Can YOU make it?
  10. I voted but I have a feeling it will not make any difference.
  11. It was a good mission - sparked by the idea raised by Ben afterwards I am now going to start on a custom built night bombing raid mission. Multiple A20's Clear skies, search lights, NO WAYPOINTS! (test our navigation...) and.....a single pathfinder Mossie that will drop incendiary bombs to highlight the target (been thinking about other little "Easter Eggs" I want to include whilst on the train today and am really looking forward to building it, I know I should get out more!) Friar
  12. Pilot Cloisters after a long absence due to fear of heights managed to climb back into a P38. Claimed 1 train carriage and 1 aaa units before ring rust had set in and hit the ground "attempting 1 last pass"
  13. Not sure about the Russian lady picture though? I REALLY do hope they "westernise" some of the tank content when Normandy comes out, eg western numbers and text for the Sherman, if they don't it will be a big disappointment for me.
  14. Update: 05/08/2022 New Air start for bombers added near the coast for anti shipping patrols Two shipping convoys added Road convoy added.
  15. Ticket for Saturday purchased.
  16. The date for the next round has been suggested by 352nd for 21st August. This should be a P38 date, would @DD_Fenrir mind postponing / brining forward a week to make this date available? Is this date suitable for you guys? Please post below to indicate if you are available please. If I get enough positive responses I will go back to Deacon and say we are on for that date. Friar
  17. Salute, I am posting here as I wanted to reach as wide an audience as possible. If you are going to reply to it please do not suggest any tactics for further missions, we have a thread for that Sunday July 31st - Session 3 Mission time-line 10:00 - 12:00 Many thanks to Zukker, Mosquito, Ben, FT, Crash, Sid, Fenrir, Delta, Perfesser, Blubear and Beagle for rocking up and putting in a fantastic shift. In the plan for last night some did not get any action but still did an amazing job, the pilots rained supreme (again) and made it possible for the tankers to do their stuff (a big shout out to Sid for giving me the heads up on a nice side on Sherman kill !) In the session last night we captured 3 new towns, Lens, Bugnicourt and Cantin. We also held Auberchicourt. Star of the night was Tanker Mosquito who captured Lens and made some important last ditch kills to stop the enemy in their tracks, well done sir. Our pilots, lead by Fenrir again created some amazing overhead ballet coming out on top on in an intense last ditch dogfight against multiple P38's, Mustangs may even have been a Tempest in there as well! Its not too late if you want to take part. Not everyone will be able to play every week, we understand that, slots for pilots and tankers available (you do not even have to commit to a plane or tank each for mission), but this is turning out to be a fantastic event against the 352nd. I received a great compliment from one of their guys after we had finished last night saying that it was the best thing they had ever taken part in. Do you really want to miss out on this?...

  18. @Zukker You're In! great show last night - thanks for taking part.
  19. Salute, I have created a new routine to test that as a tanker you can capture a flag ok. I have created a video that explains how it works here. The map will be put up 30 mins before the start so that you can test that you can set the flag ok.

  20. If you are thinking of taking part you will need to download some skins as well. The event will last 2 hours and is a dogfight map. You must be on TeamSpeak by 20:30 Please also make sure you have understood how the map works by reading the brief here... Small edit we have done away with the re-fuel for tanks but you MUST set the fuel when selecting the tank or plane
  21. Social Secretary has given me permission to book Battle of Britain airshow for 10th September. I would be happy to attend on the Friday for the night out and go to the show on the Saturday. Is this a go-er? (staying at the Hilton as Blubear suggests?) - happy to share a room.
  22. Salute Just seen a post on the IL2 forums ref the new feature that is coming where you can customise stick profiles on a plane by plane basis. Jason has suggested you back up your existing profile before updating (its not out, don't get too excited!) just in case. In case you have not seen it (Crash has already linked to it) I thought I would put it here as well. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/168-developer-diary/page/9/#comment-1200975
  23. Looks more like a baby dragon to me....
